Vehicular Rain Sensing System Using Forward Viewing Camera

US Patent:
2019034, Nov 14, 2019
Filed:
May 1, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/400488
Inventors:
- Auburn Hills MI, US
Heinz A. Mattern - West Bloomfield MI, US
International Classification:
B60R 1/00
B60R 11/04
H04N 5/225
Abstract:
A vehicular vision system includes a camera configured to be disposed behind a windshield of a vehicle so as to have a field of view exterior of the vehicle through the windshield. The camera includes a primary lens, a secondary lens, and an imager, which includes a primary sensing area and a secondary sensing area. The primary sensing area captures image data representative of images focused at the imager by the primary lens and the secondary sensing area captures image data representative of images focused at the imager by the secondary lens. The secondary lens is between the primary lens and the imager. A control includes a processor that processes image data captured by the imager at the primary sensing area and at the secondary sensing area. The control, responsive to processing of image data captured at the secondary sensing area, determines presence of water droplets at the windshield.

Surround View Vision System That Utilizes Trailer Camera

US Patent:
2019029, Oct 3, 2019
Filed:
Mar 26, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/364274
Inventors:
- Auburn Hills MI, US
Krishna Koravadi - Rochester Hills MI, US
Vivek Vaid - South Lyon MI, US
Joshua G. Windeler - Grand Blanc MI, US
Heinz A. Mattern - West Bloomfield MI, US
International Classification:
B60R 1/00
H04N 5/247
H04N 13/351
H04N 7/18
H04N 13/282
Abstract:
A vehicular surround vision system includes a plurality of vehicle cameras disposed at a vehicle and having respective fields of view exterior the vehicle, a trailer camera disposed at a rear of a trailer and having a field of view rearward of the trailer, and a display device in the vehicle. An electronic control unit (ECU) receives image data captured by the plurality of vehicle cameras. The display device displays surround view images responsive to the ECU. With the trailer hitched to the vehicle, the ECU receives image data captured by the trailer camera and the display device displays surround view images responsive to the ECU, with the displayed surround view images derived from image data captured by the trailer camera and at least some of the vehicle cameras.
