Filed:
Jan 5, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/177505
Inventors:
Herbert E. Bauer - Saddle Brook NJ
Michael G. Clarke - Basking Ridge NJ
John E. Lovas - Kearny NJ
William R. Narath - Parsippany NJ
Andrew N. Williams - Franklin Lakes NJ
Assignee:
Lever Brothers Company, Division of Conopco, Inc. - New York NY
International Classification:
B01F 308
B01F 506
US Classification:
252 86
Abstract:
An aqueous fabric conditioning composition comprising a homogeneous dispersion of fabric conditioning active particles having a size distribution such that the particles have a mean size of about 0. 7 to 10 microns as measured by Malvern Particle Size Analyzer and preferably have 10% of the distribution with a particle size of at least 23% of the mean particle size. The composition is obtained by a continuous process for making the aqueous fabric conditioning composition.

Fabric Conditioning Compositions And Process For Making Them

US Patent:
5288417, Feb 22, 1994
Filed:
Jul 6, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/909359
Inventors:
Herbert E. Bauer - Saddle Brook NJ
Michael G. Clarke - Basking Ridge NJ
John E. Lovas - Kearny NJ
William R. Narath - Parsippany NJ
Andrew N. Williams - Franklin Lakes NJ
Assignee:
Lever Brothers Company, Division of Conopco, Inc. - New York NY
International Classification:
D06M 13325
D06M 1346
US Classification:
252 88
A second aspect of the invention relates to a continuous process for making the aqueous fabric conditioning composition.

Production Of Detergent Compositions

US Patent:
4032465, Jun 28, 1977
Filed:
Jan 27, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/652946
Inventors:
Herbert Edward Bauer - Saddle Brook NJ
Bertus Goossens - Vlaardinger, NL
Theodorus Joannes Kock - Heenvliet, NL
Johannes Laurentius Cornelis Manders - Roosendaal, NL
Assignee:
Lever Brothers Company - New York NY
International Classification:
C11D 1102
C11D 306
US Classification:
252135
Abstract:
Detergent compositions are prepared containing a carboxymethyloxysuccinate salt detergency builder by spray drying a slurry containing dispersed carboxymethyloxysuccinate salt and detergent compound, to which slurry an alkali metal silicate is added after the addition of the carboxymethyloxysuccinate salt, with the slurry water content being maintained at not less than 40% of the final slurry formulation and a slurry temperature of not less than 76. degree. C. This decreases the formation of insoluble lumps in the slurry and gives improved slurry viscosity control.

Stabilized Bleach-Sensitive Dyes In Automatic Dishwasher Detergent Compositions

US Patent:
4464281, Aug 7, 1984
Filed:
Jul 28, 1983
Appl. No.:
6/518248
Inventors:
Anthony Rapisarda - Elmhurst NY
Edilia Camps - Elizabeth NJ
Herbert Bauer - Saddle Brook NJ
Assignee:
Lever Brothers Company - New York NY
International Classification:
C11D 754
C11D 756
C11D 712
C11D 1706
US Classification:
25217421
Abstract:
A method for stabilizing automatic dishwasher detergents containing bleach-sensitive dyes against decolorization by the bleaching agents of the compositions. The detergent powders comprise about 5-70% of a builder, 1-15% of a nonionic surfactant, 1-20% of a silicate, 0-60% of a filler, 0. 001-0. 1% of a bleach-sensitive dye, water and a bleaching agent. Prior to the addition of bleaching agent, the composition is pre-conditioned by contact with a flow of air. The resultant powder has a color that remains essentially unchanged even after storage for two months at elevated temperatures.
