Monobore Shoe

US Patent:
2003022, Dec 4, 2003
Filed:
May 21, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/442788
Inventors:
James Burtner - Spring TX, US
Alan Emerson - Cypress TX, US
Matthew Jabs - Houston TX, US
International Classification:
E21B023/00
US Classification:
166/380000, 166/207000
Abstract:
A method of attaching a tubular to an existing tubular in a well without reducing the inside diameter of the well is described. A shoe is attached to the lower end of the existing lowermost casing or tubular, generally prior to the casing being cemented or otherwise secured in the wellbore. The shoe has a diameter larger than the inside diameter of the casing or tubular to which it is attached. Subsequently, a liner is run in until its top end is in the enlarged diameter region of the shoe. A hanger can be optionally used. The liner is expanded into the enlarged diameter so that the net result is that the inside diameter in the wellbore is not reduced by the addition of the liner.

Wellbore Packer With Shearable Anti-Rotation Locking Member

US Patent:
5109926, May 5, 1992
Filed:
Nov 12, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/612604
Inventors:
Rustom K. Mody - Houston TX
Vel Berzin - Houston TX
Randle E. Ford - Kingwood TX
James C. Burtner - Spring TX
Assignee:
Baker Hughes Incorporated - Houston TX
International Classification:
E21B 33127
US Classification:
166187
Abstract:
An inflatable packing tool is provided for use in a subterranean wellbore. The inflatable packing tool is coupled to a wellbore conduit with a central bore which directs pressurized fluid into the wellbore. The inflatable packing tool includes a central tubular body for directing fluid in the wellbore. Upper and lower stationary collar members are secured to the central tubular body for coupling the central tubular body to the wellbore conduit. An annular inflatable packing element surrounds the central tubular body, and includes a flexible fluid-tight sleeve covered by a plurality of overlapping an axially extending reinforcing ribs. A slidable sleeve assembly is coupled to one end of the annular inflatable packing element. A locking means is provided for fixing the position of the slidable sleeve assembly during a deflated running mode to prevent axial movement of the slidable sleeve assembly relative to the central tubular body, rotational movement of the slidable sleeve assembly relative to the central tubular body, and twisting of the plurality of overlapping and axially extending reinforcing ribs out of axial alignment with the central longitudinal axis of the central tubular body.
