Fishing Lure Having A Paddle-Like Member

US Patent:
4445294, May 1, 1984
Filed:
Sep 13, 1982
Appl. No.:
6/417032
Inventors:
James R. Gowing - Altus AR
Assignee:
EBSCO Industries, Inc. - Birmingham AL
International Classification:
A01K 8500
US Classification:
43 4247
Abstract:
A paddle-like member for a fishing lure embodies a flat, planar member that extends forwardly from the front end portion of the fishing lure. At least one outwardly opening cavity is provided in the front end portion of the planar member with the cavity defining a socket for receiving a weight with a friction fit. The cavity is positioned in the planar member at a location so that upon insertion of the weight into the cavity, the center of gravity of the lure is lowered. This in turn, stabilizes movement of the lure and controls the rate and angle of descent of the lure as it is pulled through the water.

Fishing Lure

US Patent:
4432157, Feb 21, 1984
Filed:
Sep 27, 1982
Appl. No.:
6/424325
Inventors:
James R. Gowing - Altus AR
Assignee:
EBSCO Industries, Inc. - Birmingham AL
International Classification:
A01K 8500
US Classification:
43 4231
Abstract:
A fishing lure embodies an elongated body having a fishing line attached to its front end portion and a rearwardly and upwardly extending hook carried by its rear end portion. A plurality of movable weights are mounted within an enclosed cavity provided in the body. The cavity and weights are formed and arranged to permit the weights to move within the cavity and cause the body to oscillate about an elongated axis extending above the longitudinal center line of the lure to thus produce a unique sound, appearance and disturbance in the water which attracts fish.

Fishing Lure

US Patent:
4432156, Feb 21, 1984
Filed:
Sep 13, 1982
Appl. No.:
6/417031
Inventors:
James R. Gowing - Altus AR
Assignee:
EBSCO Industries, Inc. - Birmingham AL
International Classification:
A01K 8500
US Classification:
43 4231
Abstract:
A fishing lure for surface water fishing includes an elongated body having the natural appearance and swimming characteristics of a small bait fish. A plurality of movable weights are carried by the body within an elongated cavity adjacent the rear end of the body. The cavity and weights are constructed and arranged to permit the weights to move within the cavity and urge the body, while floating at rest, to an upstanding position. Upon retrieval of the body along the water's surface, the weights move within the cavity to impart oscillation to the body about an elongated axis extending through the body in opposite directions to produce a rattling sound that attracts fish.
