System, Method And Apparatus For Seamless Interaction Between Wireless Local Area Network And Wireless Packet Data Network

US Patent:
2003006, Apr 3, 2003
Filed:
Oct 2, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/263228
Inventors:
Vyankatesh Shanbhag - Plano TX, US
Jogen Pathak - Irving TX, US
Shridhar Krishnamurthy - Coppell TX, US
Rangaprasad Govindarajan - Plano TX, US
Janet Lind - Plano TX, US
International Classification:
H04Q007/00
H04L012/66
US Classification:
370/328000, 370/352000
Abstract:
A system and method for seamless interaction between a wireless local network (WLAN) and a wireless packet data network is presented herein. A wireless content switch is placed between the WLAN and wireless packet data network. The wireless content switch authenticates the wireless clients of the WLAN and assists nodes in the wireless packet data in authenticating the wireless client.

Weighted Wireless Early Detection

US Patent:
2003009, May 15, 2003
Filed:
Nov 7, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/289613
Inventors:
Sridhar Komandur - Richardson TX, US
Janet Lind - Plano TX, US
International Classification:
H04B017/00
US Classification:
455/067100, 455/039000
Abstract:
A system and method for controlling the transmission of data packets is presented herein. A wireless content switch is placed in a wireless packet data network and receives signals indicating whether the wireless clients are experiencing conditions indicative of losing data packets. Wherein the foregoing conditions are detected, the wireless content switch controls the transmission rate of further data packets by reducing a window size parameter in an acknowledgment signal transmitted by the wireless client. The window size can be reduced progressively, either on a linear or exponential basis.

Transmission And Flow Control

US Patent:
2003012, Jul 10, 2003
Filed:
Feb 11, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/364179
Inventors:
Sridhar Komandur - Richardson TX, US
Janet Lind - Plano TX, US
Jogen Pathak - Irving TX, US
Rangaprasad Govindarajan - Plano TX, US

Filed:
Apr 25, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/423995
Inventors:
Sridhar Komandur - Richardson TX, US
Gokul Subramaniam - Bangalore, IN
Jogen Pathak - Irving TX, US
Shridhar Krishnamurthy - Coppell TX, US
Janet Lind - Plano TX, US
Prasad Govindarajan - Plano TX, US
International Classification:
H04L012/26
US Classification:
370/230000
Abstract:
A system and method for optimizing a multimedia transmission from a content source to an end user over a link. The wireless content switch comprising an upstream port for receiving one or more data packets and for transmitting one or more status to a content source, a downstream port for transmitting the one or more data packets and for receiving one or more status from an end user, at least one processing unit coupled to the upstream and down stream ports, and memory for storing the one or more data packets responsive to receiving the data packets. Optimization code is stored in the memory, the optimization code, when executed, receiving at least one data packet, transmitting the data packet, receiving status information, transmitting status information, determining quality of service assigned to the end user, determining session specific status for the end user, and transmitting the quality of service and session specific status.
