I was responsible for reviewing pre-authorization request for services required by Humana members. I would contact the requesting provider and the member to clarify the request and to obtain the necessary clinical information. I would compare all available information to Humana's criteria and guidelines to determine if the request could be approved, if not the request was forwarded to a medical director for review and denial. I later joined the letter team, which was responsible for writing all denial letters and the reviewing them for accuracy, before mailing them to the member and provider. In addition I have; office and clinical management, phlebotomy and IV administration, wound care (to include the application of wound vacs), medication distribution (to include the administration of chemotherapy), documentation and accurate charting, additional nursing skills.
