An Elastic Composite Structure For An Absorbent Sanitary Product And An Apparatus And Method For Making Said Elastic Composite Structure

US Patent:
2023010, Mar 30, 2023
Filed:
Feb 16, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/904475
Inventors:
- Sheboygan Falls WI, US
David E. Schuette - Kiel WI, US
Jeffrey W. Fritz - Plymouth WI, US
Brenton A. Rabe - Howards Grove WI, US
International Classification:
A61F 13/15
A61F 13/494
Abstract:
A machine and method for manufacturing an elastic composite structure for disposable sanitary products involves manufacturing the elastic composite structure with an elasticized leg and leg cuff region in a manner that minimizes or eliminates the use of consumable adhesives. The elastic composite structure includes pairs of leg bonds and cuff bonds that are formed without adhesive and anchor respective leg and cuff elastic threads in position relative to facing web layers. The leg bonds and cuff bonds are formed using one or more anvils that include discrete raised projections.

Apparatus And Method Of Manufacturing An Elastic Composite Structure For An Absorbent Sanitary Product

US Patent:
2020029, Sep 24, 2020
Filed:
Jun 4, 2020
Appl. No.:
16/946055
Inventors:
- Sheboygan Falls WI, US
David E. Schuette - Kiel WI, US
Jeffrey W. Fritz - Plymouth WI, US
Justin M. Lafferty - Sheboygan WI, US
International Classification:
A61F 13/49
A61F 13/15
B29C 65/08
B29C 65/74
Abstract:
An elastic composite structure includes a plurality of tensioned elastic threads positioned between first and second web layers. A pattern of laminating bonds fuse the first and second web layers together within a deactivated zone of the elastic composite structure. A cut end of a first portion of a tensioned elastic thread and a cut end of a second portion of the tensioned elastic thread are positioned on opposing ends of the deactivated zone. A pattern of anchoring bonds fuses the first and second web layers together within an anchored zone bounding opposing ends of the deactivated zone. The anchored zone includes a first plurality of bonds that anchor the first portion of the tensioned elastic thread to the first and second web layers and a second plurality of bonds arranged that anchor the second portion of the tensioned elastic thread to the first and second web layers.

US Patent:
2020029, Sep 24, 2020
Filed:
Jun 5, 2020
Appl. No.:
16/946106
Inventors:
- Sheboygan Falls WI, US
David E. Schuette - Kiel WI, US
Jeffrey W. Fritz - Plymouth WI, US
International Classification:
B32B 37/00
A61F 13/474
A61F 13/49
A61F 13/15
B32B 7/10

B32B 3/26
B32B 7/05
B32B 27/08
B32B 5/18
B32B 5/32
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for manufacturing an elastic composite structure for an absorbent sanitary product includes a rotary anvil comprising a face surface, a plurality of non-linear ridges defined by a first plurality of grooves in the face surface, and a plurality of projections in each of the plurality of non-linear ridges. Each projection of the plurality of projections comprises a contact surface having parallel facing surfaces and parallel end surfaces.

Apparatus And Method Of Manufacturing An Elastic Composite Structure For An Absorbent Sanitary Product

US Patent:
2020020, Jul 2, 2020
Filed:
Dec 17, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/717186
Inventors:
- Sheboygan Falls WI, US
David Edward Schuette - Kiel WI, US
Jeffrey Wayne Fritz - Plymouth WI, US
Justin Marshall Lafferty - Sheboygan WI, US
International Classification:
A61F 13/49
A61F 13/474
A61F 13/15
B65H 51/015
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for manufacturing an elastic composite structure for an absorbent sanitary product includes at least one structure that guides web layers in a machine direction, an elastic thread combiner that combines a plurality of elastic threads to form a combined elastic thread assembly, and a bonding unit. The bonding unit bonds the web layers together via a bond pattern that includes bond lines that each have at least one pair of adjacent bonds, which anchor the combined elastic thread assembly within a passage defined by a pair of adjacent bonds in each of the plurality of bond lines. The passage is narrower than the combined elastic thread assembly in a non-tensioned state and wider than one of the plurality of elastic threads in a non-tensioned state.

Apparatus And Method Of Manufacturing An Elastic Composite Structure For An Absorbent Sanitary Product

US Patent:
2019023, Aug 1, 2019
Filed:
Jan 29, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/260259
Inventors:
- Sheboygan Falls WI, US
David Edward Schuette - Kiel WI, US
Jeffrey Wayne Fritz - Plymouth WI, US
Justin Marshall Lafferty - Sheboygan WI, US
International Classification:
A61F 13/15
Abstract:
An apparatus for manufacturing an elastic composite structure for an absorbent sanitary product includes an anvil with weld pattern comprising at least one anchoring region and at least one deactivating region. The anchoring region includes anchoring welds that form anchoring bonds that fuse facing web layers and anchor elastic thread(s) in position relative to the facing web layers. The deactivating region includes a break bar constructed to sever the thread(s). A method of manufacturing the elastic composite structure includes positioning a tensioned elastic thread between web layers, fusing the web layers to form an anchored zone that includes anchoring bonds that fuse the web layers and anchor the tensioned elastic thread therebetween, and cutting the thread to form a deactivated zone between adjacent portions of the anchored zone that is free of tensioned threads. The method further includes fusing the web layers within the deactivated zone.
