Bicycle Seat Sizer And Positioning Device

US Patent:
2009012, May 14, 2009
Filed:
Nov 12, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/938360
Inventors:
Jeffrey R. Staszak - Deerfield WI, US
Michael L. Leighton - Watertown WI, US
Allen Hu - Taichung City, TW
International Classification:
A61B 5/107
US Classification:
600587
Abstract:
A device for determining the distance between protruding anatomical features of a user includes a first portion having a volume of displaceable material and a second portion having at least one scale attached thereto. The displaceable material is configured to be displaced when subjected to a pressured loading to create depressions in the displaceable material. The second portion is movable relative to the first portion such that the scale can be aligned with the depressions to provide an indication of the distance therebetween. Preferably, the scale is coded for association of the distance with a desired bicycle seat size.

Bicycle Seat System

US Patent:
2009021, Aug 27, 2009
Filed:
Feb 27, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/038341
Inventors:
Damon Rinard - Monona WI, US
Jeffrey R. Staszak - Deerfield WI, US
Michael C. Leighton - Watertown WI, US
Allen Hu - Taichung City, TW
International Classification:
B62J 1/26
US Classification:
297214
Abstract:
A seat system for providing a substantially normal contact angle between the seat and the ischial tuberosities of a rider seated thereupon. The seat system includes variable padding that is configured to generally cooperate with the physiology of the rider. The padding is secured to a base that includes a pair of rails extending from an underside of the base. The rails are attached to permit controlled motion of the seat during pedaling operation in response to the change in orientation of the rider's physiology relative to the seat. The deflection of the seat cooperates with the motion of the rider's physiology through a substantial portion of a rider's pedaling motion.

Bicycle Handlebar And Grip Assembly

US Patent:
2011021, Sep 15, 2011
Filed:
Mar 10, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/044643
Inventors:
Ryan Galstad - Lake Mills WI, US
Jeffrey R. Staszak - Deerfield WI, US
Michael Leighton - Watertown WI, US
Allen Hu - Taichung City, TW
International Classification:
B62K 21/26
B23P 11/00
US Classification:
745519, 29428
Abstract:
A bicycle handlebar assembly that includes a body having at least two grip areas positioned for interaction with the hands of a rider. The grip portions or grip areas are preferably spaced apart by a center portion that secures the assembly to a bicycle steerer tube. A channel or detent is formed in the body proximate at least one, and preferably proximate each grip portion or grip area. A dampener formed of a different material than the body is disposed in the detent and dissipates at least a portion of vibration of the body to reduce vibrations communicated to the hands of the rider from handlebar vibration. An optional grip assembly cooperates with the handlebar assembly and is constructed to further dampen handlebar vibration.

A seat section is operatively attached to the upright and arranged for movement relative to the base between a plurality of vertical configurations including a first vertical configuration where the seat section is spaced from the base at a first distance for supporting the patient in the seated position, and a second vertical configuration where the seat section is spaced from the base at a second distance greater than the first distance. A lift mechanism is interposed between the base and the seat section to move the seat section between the plurality of vertical configurations. The lift mechanism moves the seat section to facilitate transitioning the patient to a standing position from the seated position.
