Knowledge with conducts inspections of dry docks and surrounding areas to detect unsatisfactory environmental conditions, unauthorized discharges into the river, improperly stored hazardous materials, malfunction of runoff collection systems. Experienced with operating a variety of engines, pumps, hydraulic machinery, oil separators, small boats and oil skimmers,and related equipment to load and off-load barges, receive and process bilge and tank liquids, and de-water dry docks. Experienced with the operations of small boats and associated equipment to perform water borne inspections of environmental conditions and to respond to hazardous spills. The ability to advise and coordinate with the project team to correct deficient conditions discovered during inspections. Experienced with monitoring, and maintaining shipyard's Dissolved Air Flotation, industrial wastewater pre treatment systems. The ability to assess and perform control and cleanup of spills of oil and other hazardous substances, both afloat and ashore. Experience with using portable machine tools and precision measuring instruments. Experience in overhauling and rebuilding all type of engines, transmissions, heavy duty drive line systems, and hydraulic utility systems. The ability to troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment and vehicles such as locomotives, cranes, bulldozers, road graders, rollers, backhoes, fuel dispensing trucks, and other heavy special purpose vehicles. Experienced in replacing parts, making modifications, and adjusting systems to assure proper operation of vehicles. Knowledge of driving and operating a variety of government vehicles and heavy mobile equipment. Experienced with installing, adjusting, and repairing ship's machinery including armament components, cargo and anchor handling gear, boat davits, elevators and conveyors, firefighting machinery, galley and laundry devices, machine shop equipment, and a variety of control and safety devices. Experienced with Participating in the overhaul, repair, modification, and refueling of Nuclear Reactor Plant systems aboard submarine and surface ships. Experienced with operating cranes, hoists, forklifts, and motor vehicles. The ability to construct staging, wooden, pipe and E-Z way stage. Experienced with building temporary wood supports and shoring of various kinds. The ability to construct scaffolding, tube and clamp scaffold. Experience with washing, scraping, sanding, spray painting, and or smoothing interior and exterior surfaces prior to painting. Apply paints, strains, surface preparatory materials, and undercoating materials to variety of surface areas, as appropriate, and according to Material Safety Data Sheets ensuring compliance with hazardous material guidelines. Maintaining existing paint surfaces through matching appropriate painting products. Clean equipment, paint mixing area, and work area. Obtain an active secret clearance and rapid gate badge. Been through submarine indoc and OSHA Training at Norfolk Naval Shipyards.
