Correcting Positions Of Shapes In A Diagram

US Patent:
8489986, Jul 16, 2013
Filed:
Jan 31, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/024084
Inventors:
Amit Anilkumar Velingkar - Redmond WA, US
Jie Li - Bellevue WA, US
Ramona Pousti - Kirkland WA, US
David Gordon Bradlee - Seattle WA, US
Assignee:
Microsoft Corporation - Redmond WA
International Classification:
G06T 11/60
US Classification:
715244, 345440
Abstract:
Technologies are described herein for correcting the layout of shapes in a diagram. A request is received to correct the diagram layout. The positional relationships between the shapes in the diagram are determined through the creation of a dependency tree. According to various embodiments, the dependency tree defines parent-child relationships within the diagram and the physical position of shapes with respect to one another. Using the dependency tree and layout rules, the shapes within the diagram may be repositioned to correct misalignment and uneven spacing to make minor corrections in the layout while preserving the general configuration of the original layout. Embodiments provide for layout corrections of diagrams including regions that encompass member shapes and provide for conflict resolution when layout corrective actions result in overlaps of shapes, regions, or page breaks.

Constraint-Based Correction Of Shape Positions In A Diagram

US Patent:
2010015, Jun 17, 2010
Filed:
Feb 25, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/712194
Inventors:
Jie Li - Bellevue WA, US
Ramona Pousti Canan - Bellevue WA, US
Zach Andrew Barth - Redmond WA, US
Amit Velingkar - Redmond WA, US
Assignee:
Microsoft Corporation - Redmond WA
International Classification:
G06F 3/14
US Classification:
715244
Abstract:
Technologies are described herein for correcting the layout of shapes in a diagram, and specifically for diagrams having constraint-based layouts, such as with lists of regions and shapes directly connected without connecting lines. A request is received to correct the diagram layout. Shape layouts are predicted for each region, followed by minimal region corrections corresponding to the corrected shape layouts. Corrected layouts are provided sequentially through the lists of regions while resolving conflicts. Virtual nodes may be utilized to preserve region layouts when flipping or rotating diagrams. A connection classification and prioritization system is used to layout shapes and regions within a diagram having one or more direct connections between shapes and/or regions.

Sketch Effects

US Patent:
2013009, Apr 11, 2013
Filed:
Oct 10, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/269959
Inventors:
Paul Nathan Anderson - Seattle WA, US
Jie Li - Bellevue WA, US
Cathy Lynn McBride - Seattle WA, US
Jimmy Y. Sun - Sammamish WA, US
Eduardo Ramon Lemus Velazquez - Tlalnepantla, MX
Zijia Zheng - Bellevue WA, US
Assignee:
MICROSOFT CORPORATION - Redmond WA
International Classification:
G06F 17/24
G06F 17/00
US Classification:
715267, 715272
Abstract:
Systems and methods for distorting the form or format of an object in an electronic document. A sketch effect theme defines parameters that when applied to the object modify one or more coloring, formatting, and effects characteristics of the object to convey a sketched or hand-drawn look or feel to the object. The parameters are stored in a record associated with the document to persist the sketch effect theme through different sessions in which the document is active or open.

Touch Interactions With A Drawing Application

US Patent:
2013034, Dec 26, 2013
Filed:
Jun 25, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/531960
Inventors:
Jason Frank Morrill - Bellevue WA, US
Jie Li - Bellevue WA, US
L. Tucker Hatfield - Bothell WA, US
Andrew Grey Carlson - Redmond WA, US
Brian T. Hill - Duvall WA, US
Shayne Martin Holmes - Redmond WA, US
Assignee:
MICROSOFT CORPORATION - Redmond WA
International Classification:
G06F 3/033
US Classification:
715863
Abstract:
Concepts and technologies are described herein for touch interactions with a drawing application. In accordance with the concepts and technologies disclosed herein, user devices can obtain drawing data generated by a web-based drawing application and can display a drawing by rendering the data in one or more UIs. The user device can interpret touch gestures at a touch sensitive display used to present the UIs and can interpret the touch gestures as corresponding to one or more commands for modifying the UIs. According to various embodiments, the user device can interpret the touch gestures by determining if the touch gestures intersect an object in the drawing and other behavior associated with the touch gesture such as movement, subsequent touches, and whether or not an object intersected was selected when the touch gesture was commenced.

Detection And Mitigation Of Security Threats To A Domain Name System For A Communication Network

US Patent:
2022038, Dec 1, 2022
Filed:
May 11, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/317573
Inventors:
- Redmond WA, US
Jie LI - Bellevue WA, US
Jinyuan JIA - Durham NC, US
International Classification:
H04L 29/06
G06F 16/901
H04L 29/12
G06N 20/00
Abstract:
The disclosure is directed towards the real-time detection and mitigation of security threats to a domain name system (DNS) for a communication network. A graph-theoretic method is applied to detect compromised DNS assets (e.g., DNS servers and web servers that DNS servers map domain names to). A graph is generated from domain name resolution (DNR) transactions. The nodes of the graph represent the DNS assets and edges between the nodes represent the DNR transactions. The graph is analyzed to detect features that signal compromised assets. The detection of such features serves to act as a binary classifier for the represented assets. The binary classifier acts to classify each node as non-compromised or compromised. The analysis is guided by supervised and/or unsupervised machine learning methods. Once the assets are classified, DNR transactions are analyzed in real-time. If the transaction involves a compromised asset, an intervention is performed that mitigates the threat.

Playback For Embedded And Preset 3D Animations

US Patent:
2020006, Feb 27, 2020
Filed:
May 31, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/427700
Inventors:
- Redmond WA, US
Matt Kernek - Redmond WA, US
Stephanie Horn - Redmond WA, US
Jie Li - Redmond WA, US
Varun Pandey - Redmond WA, US
Mikko Mannisto - Redmond WA, US
Eduardo Lemus Velazquez - Redmond WA, US
International Classification:
G06T 13/80
G06T 17/00
G06F 3/0482
G06F 3/0481
Abstract:
A system and method of playing back 3D animations includes receiving user selection of a 3D file that contains animation parameters of an animated 3D model such as a preset animation or an embedded customized animation and inserting the animated 3D model into a 2D display canvas while preserving the animation parameters of the animated 3D model described in the 3D file. The animated 3D model is played and paused on the 2D display canvas under user control independent of a main thread that enables interaction with and editing of other content besides the animated 3D model in the 2D display. User adjustment of animation parameters of the animated 3D model during playback are received and the animated 3D model with the received user adjusted animation parameters are presented to the 2D display canvas on a display device.
