Stand

US Patent:
4267998, May 19, 1981
Filed:
Jul 20, 1979
Appl. No.:
6/059312
Inventors:
James F. Weirich - Novato CA
International Classification:
F16M 1132
US Classification:
248165
Abstract:
A load supporting and elevating stand capable of quick assembly, without fasteners or gluing, is made up of a series of flat panels. The preferably wooden panels are rectangular and relatively thin, and can be stored and shipped flat and compactly. Slots in the two leg-member panels enable them to be interlocked to form a supporting base. Grooves in these two panels slidably receive four vertical brace panels, rigidifying and locking the base in the desired configuration. A top panel rests horizontally on the base, with grooves in the underside of the top panel receiving the top edges of the interlocked leg-member panels, increasing stability and locking the top panel in place.

Vent Block With Pressed-In Screen

US Patent:
4222315, Sep 16, 1980
Filed:
May 21, 1979
Appl. No.:
6/040495
Inventors:
James F. Weirich - Petaluma CA
International Classification:
F24F 700
US Classification:
98 37
Abstract:
A wooden vent block for use in construction to provide attic ventilation has patches of screen pressed into vent holes in the wooden member, in an interference fit. The elastically deformable screens are of an undeflected size slightly larger than the vent holes, so that they deform when pushed in and become springingly locked in place. At the opposite side of each hole is an air conduit tube press fit into that side of the hole, with the vent block angled in accordance with the roof line so that the air conduits angle upwardly into the attic. This puts the ends of the conduits above the attic floor insulation, so that the insulation never interferes with ventilation.
