Employing External Storage Devices As Media For Access Control Panel Control Information

US Patent:
8179227, May 15, 2012
Filed:
Nov 8, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/936899
Inventors:
John A Dziadosz - Burlington WI, US
Assignee:
Honeywell International Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
G05B 19/00
H04Q 9/00
G06F 21/00
H04L 9/32
US Classification:
340 56, 340 574, 340 554, 340 521, 340 51, 340 524, 713185, 713172, 713171
Abstract:
The present invention advantageously provides a flexible system and method for a security system having a control panel with control information for performing security operations, and a token having its own control information, such that the panel reads control information from the token and determines if the token is authentic, and, if it is, the panel updates its control information in accordance with the token's control information and performs the security operations based on its updated control information, and the updated control information is copied from the panel to the token.

System And Method For Remotely Administering And Synchronizing A Clustered Group Of Access Control Panels

US Patent:
8554865, Oct 8, 2013
Filed:
Sep 21, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/859031
Inventors:
John A Dziadosz - Burlington WI, US
Assignee:
Honeywell International Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
G06F 15/16
US Classification:
709211, 709209, 709214, 709215, 709218, 709221, 709228, 709229
Abstract:
The present invention advantageously provides a system and method for remotely administering and synchronizing a clustered group of access control nodes using a gateway node. A device, such as a network browser, submits an update for one node of the cluster of nodes to a web server in the gateway node. The web server transmits, via a communication interface in the gateway node, the submitted update to the node configuration database of the appropriate node while the gateway updates its configuration database in accordance with the submitted update. In another embodiment, the device is a dedicated host computer. The data can be transmitted in accordance with a binary access protocol.

System And Method For Automatically Updating, Backing Up Or Restoring Access Control Systems

US Patent:
2012006, Mar 22, 2012
Filed:
Sep 21, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/886798
Inventors:
John A. Dziadosz - Burlington WI, US
Jeffrey S. Zingsheim - Franklin WI, US
Assignee:
Honeywell International Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
G06F 7/04
US Classification:
340 57
Abstract:
An access control panel can be updated substantially automatically by loading a thumb drive with executable instructions, or information, and coupling the drive to the panel and transferring the instructions or information to the panel for execution or storage. Alternately, the coupling can be implemented via a computer network.

Apparatus For Providing A Single Image Of An I/O Subsystem In A Geographically Dispersed Computer System

US Patent:
5832222, Nov 3, 1998
Filed:
Jun 19, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/666151
Inventors:
John A. Dziadosz - Naperville IL
Jorge D. Penaranda - Naperville IL
Dale F. Rathunde - Geneva IL
Assignee:
NCR Corporation - Dayton OH
International Classification:
G06F 1300
US Classification:
39520046
Abstract:
A computer system having a scaleable software architecture is disclosed. The scaleable communication or data replication architecture that enables transparent replication of data or state information over a network of geographically dispersed processing units. Transparent data replication over a geographically dispersed computer network is useful in applications such as parallel computing and disaster recovery. The communication architecture also provides a transparent interface to a kernel I/O subsystem, device drivers and system applications. The communication architecture provides a distributed data model presenting a single system image of the I/O subsystem that allows two or more geographically dispersed processing units or clusters thereof, access to common data. In one particular implementation, the communication architecture permits RAID algorithms, such as RAID level 1 and RAID level 5 state information to be applied to the geographically dispersed network for site disaster recovery. The distributed data model software package may be run on uni-processor or multi-processor systems each having the same or different operating environments.
