System And Method For Computer-Based Marketing

US Patent:
2001001, Aug 9, 2001
Filed:
May 19, 1998
Appl. No.:
09/081264
Inventors:
DANIEL R. GREENING - SAN FRANCISCO CA, US
JOHN B. HEY - CONCORD MA, US
International Classification:
G06F017/60
US Classification:
705/010000, 702/181000
Abstract:
A marketing system and method predicts the interest of a user in specific items—such as movies, books, commercial products, web pages, television programs, articles, push media, etc.—based on that user's behavioral or preferential similarities to other users, to objective archetypes formed by assembling items satisfying a search criterion, a market segment profile, a demographic profile or a psychographic profile, to composite archetypes formed by partitioning users into like-minded groups or clusters then merging the attributes of users in a group, or to a combination. The system uses subjective information from users and composite archetypes, and objective information from objective archetypes to form predictions, making the system highly efficient and allowing the system to accommodate “cold start” situations where the preferences of other people are not yet known.

Deep Water Knuckle Boom Crane

Abstract:
A crane including an inner boom, an outer boom, a plurality of guide assemblies arranged along the length of the inner and outer boom and adapted for guiding a plurality of lines, and a multi-line material handling system including a first line having an outgoing portion extending to a sheave block, and an incoming portion returning from the sheave block to a supported anchor device, and a second line having an outgoing portion extending to the sheave block, and an incoming portion returning from the sheave block to the supported anchor device.

Split Block For Extended Travel

US Patent:
4721286, Jan 26, 1988
Filed:
Jul 24, 1985
Appl. No.:
6/758355
Inventors:
John E. Hey - Houston TX

Assignee:
AMCA International Corporation - Hanover NH
McDermott Incorporated - New Orleans LA
International Classification:
B66D 308
US Classification:
254399
Abstract:
A crane block (FIG. 2) is provided for traveling along a central main fall symmetry line (78) defining vertical travel during movement of a hoist within a barge mounted crane. The crown block (50) is mounted to a crane boom (12) and includes a first row of relatively large diameter sheaves (54) in tandem with a second row of relatively small diameter sheaves (58). A movable block (76) is provided between the traveling block (74) and the crown block (50) and includes a third row of relatively small diameter sheaves (60) which are reeved together with the second row of sheaves. A traveling block (74) is provided with a fourth row of relatively large diameter sheaves (56) which are reeved together with the first row of sheaves (54). Sheaves in either the second (58) or third (60) rows are horizontally canted with respect to the main fall symmetry line (78) for vertical travel of the rope which is reeved between the rows. The movable block section ( 76) may be connected with the traveling block (74) for lifting relatively heavy loads over relatively small vertical travel distances.
