Lock And Key Combination With Mastering Concept

US Patent:
4313319, Feb 2, 1982
Filed:
Apr 14, 1980
Appl. No.:
6/140255
Inventors:
Paul Z. Haus - Teaneck NJ
John A. Signorelli - Brooklyn NY
International Classification:
E05B 6736
US Classification:
70 34
Abstract:
A plunger type lock construction in which the key receiving face thereof is spaced a critical distance from a portion of a reciprocable plunger which is within the lock body and which is engaged by the key to release locking members extending from the lock body. The lock body has shaped means at its key receiving face which prevents insertion of a key to the proper, lock operating depth in the lock if the end of the key which faces the key receiving face is not shaped so as to receive the shaped means on the lock body. Each lock may have a differently shaped means so that a key which will fit one lock will not fit another lock, but a master key may be provided which will fit all or only a plurality, of such locks.

Portable Safety Marker

US Patent:
6053657, Apr 25, 2000
Filed:
Dec 18, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/992990
Inventors:
John A. Signorelli - Brooklyn NY
Assignee:
Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. - New York NY
International Classification:
E01F 1300
E01F 900
B63B 2200
US Classification:
404 6
Abstract:
A safety or traffic marker is capable of providing a continuous physical border between two locations. A housing, or one of several adapters, are employed in a conventional traffic cone to dispense an elongated strip of tape therefrom. In one embodiment, the housing is physically incorporated into the interior of the marker, and is adapted for easy insertion and removal of a tape or safety material dispenser. In order to achieve easy insertion of the tape dispenser into the housing, the upper portion of the marker is split into separable sections. Since the marker is fabricated from a deformable material, the upper portion can be manually separated into an opened position for insertion of the tape dispenser therein. Hook and loop fasteners may be used to fasten together the two sections into a closed position. Adapters may also be used in conjunction with conventional traffic markers for creating a continuous physical border between two or more locations.

Internal Locking Mechanism For Barrel Type Locks

US Patent:
4614097, Sep 30, 1986
Filed:
Jan 30, 1986
Appl. No.:
6/824304
Inventors:
John A. Signorelli - Brooklyn NY
International Classification:
E05B 6736
US Classification:
70 34
Abstract:
A plunger type lock comprising a barrel with an axial bore, locking members in the form of balls housed in the barrel wall and extensible outwardly from the barrel by a plunger axially slidable within the barrel bore, at least one further ball housed in an opening in the wall of the plunger and extensible outwardly therefrom and a peripheral groove on the inner wall surface of the barrel for receiving the further ball, the further ball being forceably moved and held in the barrel's groove by an incorrect key, instrument or an implement to prevent and resist movement of the plunger whenever an unauthorized attempt to operate and open the lock is made.

Lockable Terminal Cover For Bottom Connected Metering Devices

US Patent:
4823572, Apr 25, 1989
Filed:
Sep 2, 1986
Appl. No.:
6/902872
Inventors:
John A. Signorelli - Brooklyn NY
International Classification:
B65D 5514
US Classification:
70163
Abstract:
Locking apparatus for bottom connected electrical meters which, in one embodiment, includes a secondary cover over the meter terminal block and intermediate the primary cover and the meter base, the secondary cover being secured to the base by screws which are covered by the primary cover. The secondary cover has an apertured stud thereon which extends through the primary cover and receives a lock to prevent removal of the primary cover. The protruding end of the stud may be covered by an apertured block secured to the primary cover. In a second embodiment, the stud is omitted, and the lock extends through the primary cover and into an opening in the meter base, the lock having a portion which engages the primary cover and prevents removal thereof. In the second embodiment, a detector, such as a switch, within the base and operable by the lock indicates the presence or absence of the lock.

Protecting And Sealing Cap

US Patent:
4676084, Jun 30, 1987
Filed:
Apr 17, 1986
Appl. No.:
6/853193
Inventors:
John A. Signorelli - Brooklyn NY
International Classification:
E05B 3902
US Classification:
70440
Abstract:
Protecting and sealing cap for the open end of a ferrule, such as a ferrule at the key receiving end of a lock, with a pair of opposed openings through the wall thereof. The cap is cup-shaped with a tubular wall for encircling the ferrule and an end wall at one end of the tubular wall. A stem projects from the end wall toward the opposite end of the tubular wall and engages with a retainer inserted through the ferrule openings so that the cap cannot be removed without fracturing the cap or the retainer. Several stem, cap and retainer configurations are disclosed, and the retainer may be secured to the cap by a flexible cord.

Security Lock And Key

US Patent:
4040279, Aug 9, 1977
Filed:
Oct 4, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/728943
Inventors:
John A. Signorelli - Brooklyn NY
Paul Z. Haus - Teaneck NJ
International Classification:
E05B 6736
US Classification:
70 34
Abstract:
Attempts to pick the plunger-type (barrel) lock disclosed are frustrated by the necessity of holding one axially movable part in place against the force of a spring while retracting another axially movable member to open the lock. The key that opens the lock has a central pin stationary in use for holding back a position while radially spreading fingers frictionally engage and thereby permit withdrawal of an axially movable cylinder coaxial with the piston. A frangible member is provided for installing the lock without using the special key so that the number of keys can be strictly controlled. The key will open not only the lock of this invention, but also other kinds of plunger-type locks in common use by gas and electric utility companies.

Breakway Meter Pointers And Shafts

US Patent:
4490672, Dec 25, 1984
Filed:
Sep 30, 1982
Appl. No.:
6/429667
Inventors:
John A. Signorelli - Brooklyn NY
International Classification:
G01R 100
US Classification:
324110
Abstract:
A register pointer for an electric utility meter is described as having a weakened section at which fracture can occur to break away the pointer when an attempt is made to tamper with the pointer, such as by manually resetting the pointer's position on the register to show a lower reading of energy consumption. Various forms of breakaway means are described which will permit separation of the pointer portion of the device from its shaft portion when a torque is applied to the pointer end.

Multi-Combination Security Lock And Key

US Patent:
4155232, May 22, 1979
Filed:
Jan 24, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/871958
Inventors:
Paul Z. Haus - Teaneck NJ
John A. Signorelli - Brooklyn NY
International Classification:
E05B 6736
US Classification:
70 34
Abstract:
A plunger-type (barrel) lock has a spring loaded plunger which can only be properly retracted by the use of a key having a central rod, enlarged end sliding member and outwardly moving fingers for gripping engagement within a socket (cylinder bore) of the plunger. A movable, spring-biased eyelet is positioned adjacent the socket, such that an unauthorized key or tampering tool will grip the eyelet, rather than the plunger socket, failing to open the lock. The key has a toggle type operating lever including a tension relief element in the form of a spring, coacting with an internal collar of the key to allow some axial movement of the key's operating elements. Use of the collar allowing axial movement of the key's operating elements and complementing socket diameter of the plunger within the lock can provide security lock combinations for the user(s).
