Dual Cushion Body Support System

US Patent:
5893183, Apr 13, 1999
Filed:
Dec 19, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/994068
Inventors:
Joseph A. Bechtold - South Euclid OH
International Classification:
A47C 2718
A47C 2710
US Classification:
5632
Abstract:
A dual cushion body support system includes a relatively thin, elongate, substantially flat, top cushion and a relatively shorter base cushion that is configured to underlie and elevate a central part of the top cushion to provide upwardly arched support to a person lying in a prone, face down position to comfortably elevate the upper back and shoulders of the person for gently stretching, positioning and exposing muscles of the neck and back for treatment such as massage. The top cushion serves as flexible pad and as a protective cover that drapes the underlying base cushion and relies on the base cushion to provide a properly arched body support contour. An end portion of the top cushion that drapes beyond the length of the base cushion is provided with an upstanding forehead support formation to assist in comfortably supporting the person's head; and, the top cushion is sufficiently flexible to permit its being rolled up for ease of transport and for compact storage. The base cushion is inflatable and preferably employs separately inflatable chambers to provide ready adjustment of the contour and effective length of the base cushion; and, the base cushion can be deflated for ease of transport and compact storage.

Smoking Appliance

US Patent:
4164950, Aug 21, 1979
Filed:
Jan 3, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/866790
Inventors:
Joseph A. Bechtold - South Euclid OH
International Classification:
A24F 122
US Classification:
131194
Abstract:
A smoking appliance utilizes a solid-phase cooling medium for tempering and treating smoke. The appliance has a housing which defines an upstanding cooling chamber. A burning bowl is arranged to introduce smoke to be treated into a lower portion of the cooling chamber. A flexible hose communicates a mouthpiece with the chamber for withdrawing treated smoke from an upper portion of the cooling chamber. A removable container is provided for supporting a solid-phase cooling medium within an intermediate portion of the cooling chamber. The cooling medium defines a plurality of flow paths for transmitting smoke from the lower portion to the upper portion. During its travel through the cooling medium, the smoke is exposed to a large surface area of the cooling medium to effect a thorough tempering and treating action. While the solid-phase cooling medium preferably takes the form of a reusable frozen cartridge, it may also constitute a plurality of pieces of ice supported within the container. A drainable residue collection area is provided at the base of the cooling chamber for catching ash particles and residue-containing liquid.

Appl. No.:
7/981067
Inventors:
Joseph A. Bechtold - South Euclid OH
International Classification:
H05B 300
B65D 6900
US Classification:
219521
Abstract:
A portable appliance for heating towels and for dispensing heated fluid such as body oil has a suitcase-like housing with hinge-connected base and lid components that define a plurality of compartments for heating towels and liquid when the housing is "open" and the appliance is "set up" for operation, and for receiving components of the appliance so that the appliance can be conveniently stored and transported when the housing is "closed. " When the housing is open, a support structure such as a set of legs is removable from the housing for use in supporting at least a base portion of the housing at an a convenient access height above a floor or other substantially horizontal surface. Joseph A. Bechtold - South Euclid OH
International Classification:
H05B 300
B65D 6900
US Classification:

Abstract:
A portable appliance for heating towels and for dispensing heated fluid such as body oil has a suitcase-like housing with hinge-connected base and lid components that define a plurality of compartments for heating towels and liquid when the housing is "open" and the appliance is "set up" for operation, and for receiving components and accessories of the appliance so that the appliance can be conveniently stored and transported when the housing is "closed. " A relatively large main compartment is defined by the housing for receiving and suitably heating towels therein for use in concert with the administration of a massage. "Wet" or "dry" towel heating can be carried out within the main heating compartment. Power Operable Can Opener

US Patent:
2015023, Aug 27, 2015
Filed:
Feb 18, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/544793
Inventors:
JOSEPH A. BECHTOLD - PARMA OH, US
International Classification:
B67B 7/46
Abstract:
A rugged, heavy duty, industrial-type hand held can opener tool is provided with a male drive formation to which a battery operated power drill or the like may be connected so the tool may be held in one hand, and may be operated by a power tool held in the other hand. When two pivotally connected handles of the can opener close toward each other, a cutting formation carried on one handle and a toothed drive wheel carried on the other handle grip the can. As the handles close, the cutting formation punctures the lid of the can adjacent the rim of the can.
