Fastener

US Patent:
4819954, Apr 11, 1989
Filed:
Apr 9, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/036332
Inventors:
Joseph G. Fucci - Holbrook MA
Melvyn J. L. Clough - Acton MA
Assignee:
TRW Inc. - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
F16J 1512
F02F 1100
US Classification:
277235B
Abstract:
Disclosed is a plastic fastener component adapted to be molded into a gasket to provide means for securing the gasket to an associated structure while retaining a threaded fastener in an operative position. The component comprises a generally cylindrical body terminating in first and second axially spaced ends and having an axial opening of uniform transverse cross-section extending between the ends and adapted to receive the threaded fastener. The inner surface of the opening has axially extending ribs formed thereon. A circumferential flange extends radially outward about the first end of the body. The flange has a relatively thick and rigid portion adjacent the body and terminates in a relatively thin outer periphery. A plurality of flexible and resilient legs terminating in free end portions extend axially outward from the second end of the body. The legs are spaced circumferentially about the opening and each has a radially inward facing surface which forms a continuation of the ribs on the inner surface of the opening.

Razor Handle

US Patent:
5855071, Jan 5, 1999
Filed:
Aug 22, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/917021
Inventors:
Domenic Vincent Apprille - Arlington MA
Donald Robert Chaulk - E. Sandwich MA
Joseph George Fucci - Hanson MA
Stephen Cabot Metcalf - West Newton MA
Robert Anthony Trotta - Pembroke MA
Charles Bridgham Worrick - Hanson MA
Assignee:
The Gillette Company - Boston MA
International Classification:
B26B 2152
US Classification:
30532
Abstract:
A shaving system includes a replaceable shaving cartridge and a shaving razor handle. The replaceable shaving cartridge has a housing carrying blades, a guard, a cap, and a camming surface. The cartridge includes an interconnect member having a pivotal support structure that pivotally supports the housing and a base structure adapted to be removably and fixedly attached to the handle. A shaving razor handle has an elongated hand gripping structure and a cartridge support structure extending from an end of the hand gripping structure. The cartridge support structure has an extension with outer side surfaces that mate with inwardly directed surfaces of a recess on the cartridge and an end surface with an opening. The extension has an asymmetrical shape to ensure proper orientation. A spring-biased plunger is retained in the cartridge support structure and extends through the opening of the cartridge support structure.

Quarter Turn Fastener

US Patent:
4705442, Nov 10, 1987
Filed:
Apr 7, 1986
Appl. No.:
6/848492
Inventors:
Joseph G. Fucci - Abington MA
Assignee:
TRW Inc. - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
F16B 1900
US Classification:
411510
Abstract:
A quarter-turn fastener adapted for selective connection to a support member through a generally rectangular opening. The disclosed fastener comprises a body having a head and an axially elongated, rigid shank. Extending radially outward from the shank are two series of resilient leg members. The leg members in each series are axially spaced and configured to be readily deflectable toward the head but to offer substantial resistance to deflection away from the head. Wing-like stop members are joined to the shank at positions spaced circumferentially of the leg members for centering the fastener in the opening and limiting its rotation about the axis of the shank to a single predetermined direction.

Beverage Machine With Capsule Imaging

US Patent:
2022033, Oct 20, 2022
Filed:
Sep 21, 2020
Appl. No.:
17/640274

A47J 31/44
A47J 31/40
A47J 31/52
Abstract:
A beverage machine arranged to image at least a portion of a capsule held by a beverage forming station of the machine. Parts of the beverage forming station may be movable between open and closed positions, and a portion of the capsule may be imaged while parts of the forming station are between open and closed positions. A capsule image may be captured only when forming station parts are moved toward the closed position, and image date discarded if the forming station is moved toward the open position prior to beverage formation.
