Turbulance And Air Jet Bubbled Air Intake Manifold Washer

US Patent:
6645312, Nov 11, 2003
Filed:
Jun 21, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/886645
Inventors:
Karthikeyan R. Narayanaswamy - Canton MI
Assignee:
Siemens VDO Automotive Inc. - Tilbury
International Classification:
B08B 704
US Classification:
134 36, 134 34, 134 37
Abstract:
A plastic air intake manifold is cleaned by a washer. The manifold is secured in a water tight chamber and immersed in water. Impellers in the chamber create turbulence in the water to remove oil and impurities located near the impellers. Air jets are activated to produce compressed air bubbles in the water which act abrasively to further clean the manifold. The water, impurities and oil are immediately removed from the chamber by a high power suction water outlet pump.

Continuously Variable Intake Manifold With Intelligent Position Control

US Patent:
6983727, Jan 10, 2006
Filed:
Jan 3, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/336105
Inventors:
Karthikeyan Narayanaswamy - Canton MI, US
Assignee:
Siemens VDO Automotive Inc. - Chatham
International Classification:
F02B 27/02
US Classification:
12318455
Abstract:
An intake manifold includes a permanent runner which provides airflow communication between a plenum volume and a plurality of engine cylinders. An active runner assembly retracts into and extends from the permanent runner assembly in response to a drive system which communicates with a controller to selectively change the length of the intake manifold assembly to optimize performance. The permanent runner assembly includes a plurality of fixed length passages and the active runner assembly includes a plurality of active runner passages. Each active runner passage telescopes in and out of a respective fixed length passage to vary the effective length between the plenum and the engine cylinder.

Method Of Securing Tire Pressure Monitoring Device To Wheel

US Patent:
7168305, Jan 30, 2007
Filed:
Oct 20, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/969264
Inventors:
Karthikeyan R. Narayanaswamy - Canton MI, US
Assignee:
Siemens VDO Automotive Corporation - Auburn Hills
International Classification:
G01M 17/02
US Classification:
73146
Abstract:
A method of securing a tire pressure-monitoring device to a vehicle wheel includes the steps of welding a bracket within a tire wheel well. The bracket assembly includes a weld surface that corresponds to a surface on the wheel rim. The weld surface includes a common curvature that matches the surface of the wheel and also includes a material compatible with welding to the wheel rim.

Method Of Accurately Measuring Volume Of Injected Metal In Forming Core Elements For Lost Core Molding Process

US Patent:
2002004, Apr 25, 2002
Filed:
Apr 25, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/842419
Inventors:
Karthikeyan Narayanaswamy - Canton MI, US
Assignee:
Siemens Automotive Corporation
International Classification:
B22D037/00
US Classification:
164/457000, 164/133000
Abstract:
An improved method for forming cores to be utilized in a loss core plastic molding process includes the use of a flow meter. The flow meter ensures that sufficient molten metal is delivered into a cavity for the loss core elements. In this way, the present invention eliminates the occurrence of gaps, spaces or cavities in the molded loss core part. Most preferably a magnetic flow meter is utilized which can monitor the amount of molten metal having flown through the flow meter.

Laser Welded Butterfly Valve Blade

US Patent:
2005018, Aug 25, 2005
Filed:
Feb 14, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/057579
Inventors:
Karthikeyan Narayanaswamy - Canton MI, US
Bruce Harvey - Shelby Township MI, US
Assignee:
Siemens VDO Automotive, Inc. - Chatham
International Classification:
F16K001/22
B23K001/20
B21D051/16
US Classification:
251308000, 029890120
Abstract:
A butterfly valve blade () is attached to a shaft () by a laser weld between an inner surface () of the butterfly valve blade () and the shaft (). The shaft () includes a plastic portion () composed of a laser absorbent material. The butterfly valve blade () is formed of a laser transparent plastic material. A laser is directed through the butterfly valve blade () onto the plastic portion () of the shaft (). Energy form the laser heats the laser absorbent material of the shaft () that melts in the presence of the laser. The butterfly valve blade () is heated by the heated shaft () to melt and form the desired weld that secures the butterfly valve blade () to the shaft ().

System And Method To Reduce Errors, Authenticate, And Reduce The Filling Time Of Medical Prescriptions By Utilizing Rfid Tag

US Patent:
2006015, Jul 13, 2006
Filed:
Dec 30, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/905399
Inventors:
Karthikeyan Narayanaswamy - Canton MI, US
International Classification:
G08B 13/14
US Classification:
340572100
Abstract:
Medical prescription data is electronically written or captured with a RFID scanner device to an RFID tag. This RFID tag can be attached to a written or printed form of the prescription. This prescription RFID tag is read at the pharmacy using a RFID reader. The data written to the RFID tag contains prescription related information and optionally an encryption key to authenticate the prescription. The scanners and readers can be connected in a network link to a host environment. The RFID tag is optionally removed from the written prescription and attached to the medicine container in which the medicine is dispensed, at the pharmacy.
