Method Of Downsampling Documents

US Patent:
6389178, May 14, 2002
Filed:
Jul 28, 1994
Appl. No.:
08/281879
Inventors:
Oscar Ernesto Agazzi - Florham Park NJ
Kenneth Ward Church - Chatham NJ
William Arthur Gale - Maplewood NJ
Assignee:
Lucent Technologies Inc. - Murray Hill NJ
International Classification:
G06K 936
US Classification:
382276
Abstract:
A method downsamples characters in a document by font substitution when the characters in the document are identified with sufficient reliability. Otherwise, the characters are downsampled by decimation. The method also allows downsampling by applying characters to a two-dimensional nonlinear filter and decimating.

Data Compression Method And Apparatus

US Patent:
6959300, Oct 25, 2005
Filed:
Aug 26, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/383889
Inventors:
Donald F Caldwell - Westfield NJ, US
Kenneth Ward Church - Bernardsville NJ, US
Glenn Stephen Fowler - Scotch Plains NJ, US
Assignee:
AT&T Corp. - New York NY
International Classification:
G06F017/30
US Classification:
707101
Abstract:
An improved data compression method and apparatus is provided, particularly with regard to the compression of data in tabular form such as database records. The present invention achieves improved compression ratios by utilizing metadata to transform the data in a manner that optimizes known compression techniques. In one embodiment of the invention, a schema is generated which is utilized to reorder and partition the data into low entropy and high entropy portions which are separately compressed by conventional compression methods. The high entropy portion is further reordered and partitioned to take advantage of row and column dependencies in the data. The present invention enables not only much greater compression ratios but increased speed than is achieved by compressing the untransformed data.

Method Of Condensed Cell Slide Preparation And Detection Of Rarely Occurring Cells On Microscope Slides

Feb 8, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/672794
Inventors:
Vladimir M. Pelekhaty - Orlando FL, US
Anatoliy Kachurin - Orlando FL, US
William Warren - Orlando FL, US
Kenneth Church - Orlando FL, US
Heather Fahlenkamp - Cleveland OH, US
Russell Higbee - Orlando FL, US
Assignee:
Sciperio, Inc. - Stillwater OK
International Classification:
G01J 3/30
US Classification:
356318
Abstract:
Detection of a rarely occurring event within one or more biological samples includes (a) processing each biological sample to provide a gellable liquid solution comprising concentrated biological sample and a flourochrome designed to associate with a rarely occurring event within the concentrated biological sample; (b) depositing the solution in a layer on a surface of a slide; and (c) scanning the solution on the slide with energy adapted to cause fluorescence of the flourochrome to detect potential instances of the rarely occurring event within the concentrated biological sample in the solution.

Method For Manufacturing 3D Circuits From Bare Die Or Packaged Ic Chips By Microdispensed Interconnections

US Patent:
7972650, Jul 5, 2011
Filed:
Jul 13, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/457400
Inventors:
Kenneth H. Church - Orlando FL, US
Patrick Clark - Orlando FL, US
Dongjiang Xu - Casselberry FL, US
Lance Swan - Orlando FL, US
Bryan Irwin - Winter Springs FL, US
Vladimir Pelekhaty - Maitland FL, US
Assignee:
nScrypt, Inc. - Orlando FL
International Classification:
B05D 5/12
B05D 3/00
US Classification:
427 961, 427 977, 427 984, 427117
Abstract:
A method for manufacturing an electronic circuit in three-dimensional space provides for interconnecting electronic components within the circuit by directly writing conducting lines. The method may include observing a direct writing tool of a direct write system using a vision system, determining proper placement of the direct writing tool at least partially based on the step of observing, and directly writing conducting lines in three dimensions using the proper placement. The direct writing may be on a surface or in free space. The method may include stacking a plurality of chips to provide a stack having a top surface and edges extending away from the top and interconnecting connections of the chips by directly writing conducting lines along one of the edges.
