Mechanism For Capturing Debris Generated During Vascular Procedures

US Patent:
6652557, Nov 25, 2003
Filed:
Aug 29, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/942318
Inventors:
Kenneth A. MacDonald - Canton MA, 02021
International Classification:
A61M 2900
US Classification:
606200
Abstract:
A surgical capsule of the present invention is positioned in an artery or vein by threading a catheter containing the capsule from a proximal incision in the blood vessel to a location within the blood vessel adjacent to a lesion. The catheter comprises an outer holding sheath, an intermediate deployment sheath, and an inner guide wire, all of which are reciprocable with respect to each other. The capsule includes (1) a control sub-assembly that includes a hub and a plurality of outwardly biased leaf springs, and (2) a filter sub-assembly that includes a porous dome that is capable of permitting fluid flow, but retaining particles. Domes of different porosity may be affixed to the leaf springs. The position of the capsule is controlled by the guide wire. The present invention allows the interchangeability of mesh caps of different diameters and mesh sizes.

Relief Panel And Method Of Making Same

US Patent:
4083160, Apr 11, 1978
Filed:
Feb 18, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/769953
Inventors:
Edward J. MacDonald - Scituate MA
Kenneth A. MacDonald - Canton MA
International Classification:
E04C 140
E06B 370
US Classification:
52316
Abstract:
Structural and decorative unitary boards which may be laminated with a veneer are given a relief appearance by forming a rabbeted groove in the front face thereof, preferably rectangular in outline, and mounting therein from the front, tapered laminated strips having a thickness along one edge slightly less than the depth of the groove and the opposite narrow edge being substantially flush with the base of the groove. The entire panel thus presents a relief configuration in which substantially all of the exposed surfaces may be covered by the veneer. The panels may be used for doors used in kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities and the like.

Filed:
Apr 4, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/565143
Inventors:
Edward J. MacDonald - Scituate MA
Kenneth A. MacDonald - Canton MA
International Classification:
E04C 140
US Classification:
52316
Abstract:
Structural and decorative boards laminated with a hard plastic veneer are given a relief appearance by forming a rabbeted groove, preferably rectangular in outline, and mounting therein tapered laminated strips having a thickness along one edge substantially corresponding to the depth of the groove and along the opposite narrow edge being substantially flush with the base of the groove. The entire panel thus presents a relief configuration while the exposed surfaces are covered by the plastic veneer. The panels may be used for doors used in kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities and the like.

Height Adjustable Cabinet

US Patent:
4009918, Mar 1, 1977
Filed:
Jan 22, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/651342
Inventors:
Kenneth A. MacDonald - Canton MA
Edward J. MacDonald - Scituate MA
International Classification:
A47B 4300
A47B 4800
F16M 1124
US Classification:
312255
Abstract:
Panel legs are provided to support one or more connected cabinets in a row and to raise and lower the cabinet to a pre-selected height. Each leg is relatively thin and is comprised of a fixed, lower frame adapted to rest on the floor and a moveable upper portion connected to the cabinet. The moveable upper portion is raised and lowered with respect to the fixed lower portion by means of a lever pivoted at one end to the fixed frame and at the other end adapted to be set into any one of a number of vertically spaced notches formed in a fixed vertical post forming part of the fixed leg section. The lever connects to the moveable upper portion of the leg and, by operation of the lever, the upper portion of the leg, together with any cabinets attached thereto, will be raised or lowered to a selected height. The working mechanism is contained within the leg and is normally hidden from view by means of a removable front panel. A reversible connecting plate is attached to the rear part of the fixed frame portion, extending through the rear of the moveable portion for attachment to the wall behind the cabinets.

US Patent:
4485754, Dec 4, 1984
Filed:
Sep 30, 1982
Appl. No.:
6/431761
Inventors:
Kenneth A. MacDonald - Canton MA
Assignee:
Compo Industries, Inc. - Waltham MA
International Classification:
D05B 2100
US Classification:
1122623
Abstract:
A system for loading a workpiece onto a carriage for traverse relative to a pattern-producing instrumentality comprising a bottom plate positioned on the carriage, a top plate, a picker movable relative to the carriage from a loading position remote from the carriage to a clamping position adjacent the carriage, electromagnets on the picker for releasably holding the top plate thereon for movement therewith on the one hand to lift the top plate from the bottom plate to said loading position and on the other hand to lower the top plate to said clamping position, positioning pins on the picker for positioning and holding the workpiece on the top plate in a predetermined position thereon during movement of the top plate from the loading position to and from the clamping position, said electromagnet being operative to release the top plate at the clamping position, holes in the top plate and pins on the bottom plate interengageable when the top and bottom plates are brought into engagement at the clamping position to align the plates and means at the clamping position for clamping the plates to each other with the workpiece therebetween.

US Patent:
3955864, May 11, 1976
Filed:
Mar 21, 1974
Appl. No.:
5/453331
Inventors:
Kenneth A. MacDonald - Canton MA
Edward J. MacDonald - Scituate MA
International Classification:
A47B 4300

The components include a front panel formed with integral hinges connected to cooperating integral hinges formed on a pair of side panels adapted to fold over against one another and the front panel when the cabinet is in a collapsed position. A pair of shelves is provided, each with integral hinge pins pivotally engaging the front and side panels by sockets formed between the side panels and the front panel, both shelves being foldable against the front panel when collapsed. A back panel is provided for closing the rear of the cabinet when erected and means are provided for re-inforcing and supporting the various components from damage during shipment.

Cabinet Door Clip

US Patent:
3997205, Dec 14, 1976
Filed:
Jul 7, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/593265
Inventors:
Kenneth A. MacDonald - Canton MA
International Classification:
E05C 104
US Classification:
292288
Abstract:
A one-piece clip is provided for temporarily locking a cabinet door in a closed position. The clip is fabricated from a stiff, resilient material such as metal or plastic, wire or ribbon and is formed with a pair of reversing relatively deep U-shaped bends. The free end of one bend is shorter than the free end of the other bend and is also shorter than the cross-piece of the other bend whereby the clip, when mounted over the door jamb of the cabinet, is capable of limited lateral movement to allow the door first to swing clear for opening and installation and to be locked by laterally shifting the clip so that the outer U-shaped end engages the edge of the door in the closed position. The clip may be used for keeping the door shut during shipment of newly assembled cabinets, for example.
