Abstract:
A buoyant body with a spherical hull having a well extending along a vertical axis. The well is open at both ends to permit flow of water therein and is such dimension as to make the period of its vertical oscillation greater than the period of vertical oscillation of any waves of significant height reasonably expected to be encountered by the body. The body is otherwise weighted so as to be tuned against roll oscillation.

Abstract:
High-pressure air from the air supply is admitted into the heater system through a pressure regulator. Fuel, such as propane, enters the system from a fuel canister. The air and fuel of controlled volumes mix and flow together into a catalytic combustion chamber where combustion is initiated by a spark generator. The heat of combustion is caused to pass through the walls of the combustion chamber, then through thermoelectric modules, converting part of the heat to electricity. The remaining and larger part of the heat passes to a heat exchanger on the opposite side of the thermoelectric module. Circulating water passes through the heat-exchanging chamber, absorbs the heat produced by the combustion reaction and is further pumped to the diver's suit. The electricity generated by the thermoelectric modules is used to power an electric motor driving a circulating pump.

Abstract:
A buoyant body stabilized against both roll and heave is described in which the hull has a generally spherical surface and in which the weight of the hull and its contents is of such magnitude and is distributed so that the body floats with a predetermined portion up and so that the natural periods of both roll and heave oscillations are greater than the periods of any waves of significant height reasonably expected to be encountered in the waters where the body is deployed. Also described is the use of the body as a self-propelled off shore oil terminal into which a super tanker can discharge its entire load while remaining in deep, traffic free water.
