Loudspeaker Assemblies And Related Methods

US Patent:
2020018, Jun 11, 2020
Filed:
Dec 10, 2018
Appl. No.:
16/215124
Inventors:
- Framingham MA, US
Kevin Joseph Brousseau - Brighton MA, US
Assignee:
Bose Corporation - Framingham MA
International Classification:
H04R 1/02
F16B 2/18
F16M 13/02
Abstract:
A loudspeaker assembly includes a mounting bracket, a loudspeaker, and a locking mechanism for releasably securing the loudspeaker in a selected one of a plurality of pitch angles relative to the mounting bracket. The mounting bracket includes a mounting plate for securing the mounting bracket to a flat surface, and a support arm extending outwardly from the mounting plate. The loudspeaker includes an electro-acoustic transducer, and an acoustic enclosure defining a bracket passthrough for receiving the support arm of the mounting bracket such the loudspeaker is pivotable between the plurality of pitch angles.

Device For Installation And Removal Of A Ceiling Speaker System

US Patent:
2020018, Jun 11, 2020
Filed:
Dec 10, 2018
Appl. No.:
16/215151
Inventors:
- Framingham MA, US
Kevin Joseph Brousseau - Brighton MA, US
Assignee:
Bose Corporation - Framingham MA
International Classification:
H04R 1/02
Abstract:
A method of installing a ceiling speaker system includes inserting a top end portion of an enclosure of a speaker system into a hole in a ceiling such that a spring-loaded tab of the speaker system is caused to pivot about a pivot axis as the spring-loaded tab comes into contact with an edge of the hole. The top end portion of the enclosure is moved upward, through the hole until the spring-loaded tab is clear of the hole. A lead screw of the speaker system is rotated about its longitudinal axis to cause the spring-loaded tab to be displaced toward a flange arranged along a bottom end portion of the speaker system, and thereby clamping the ceiling between the flange and the spring-loaded tab. The longitudinal axis of the lead screw is coincident with the pivot axis of the spring-loaded tab.

Kevin Brousseau - Newton MA, US
International Classification:
H04R 27/00
G06F 3/16
H04R 1/02
H04R 3/04
H04R 1/24
Abstract:
A portable public address (PA) speaker comprises an enclosure constructed and arranged for positioning at a first position having a vertical orientation to output audio shaped for a first acoustic coverage area, a second position having an angular orientation to output audio shaped for a second acoustic coverage area, and a third position having a horizontal orientation to output audio shaped for a third acoustic coverage area. The weight of the speaker rests on a bottom surface of a base when in the first position having the vertical orientation or the second position having the angular orientation. The weight of the speaker rests on a side surface when in the third position having the horizontal orientation.

Cooling Techniques To Improve Thermal Performance Of Electroacoustic Device

US Patent:
2019002, Jan 24, 2019
Filed:
Sep 21, 2018
Appl. No.:
16/138323
Inventors:
- Framingham MA, US
Kevin Brousseau - Newton MA, US
International Classification:
H05K 1/02
H04R 27/00
H04R 3/00
H04R 1/02
Abstract:
A loudspeaker assembly comprises an enclosure having a first end and a second end, the first end including an opening; an acoustic driver at the second end of the enclosure; an acoustic volume between the first end and the second of the enclosure; a circuit board at the first end of the enclosure; a firebox covering the opening at the first end of the enclosure, the firebox providing a convection flow path in the acoustic volume over heat-generating components of the circuit board; and a heat sink extending from the circuit board in a direction away from the acoustic volume for providing a conduction flow path through the circuit board.

Speaker Modules Having Different Module Housing Geometries And Similar Acoustic Properties

US Patent:
2017026, Sep 14, 2017
Filed:
Mar 11, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/067939
Inventors:
- Framingham MA, US
Greg Joseph Zastoupil - North Grafton MA, US
Randy J. Kulchy - Shrewsbury MA, US
Kevin Brousseau - Newton MA, US
International Classification:
H04R 1/24
H04R 3/12
H04R 1/02
Abstract:
An array of speaker modules includes a first speaker module having at least one electroacoustic driver and a housing that together define a first acoustic cavity having a first cavity volume. The array also includes a second speaker module having at least one electroacoustic driver and a housing that together define a first enclosed volume that is greater than the first cavity volume by a first volume difference. The second speaker module includes a first internal enclosure having a first internal volume that is substantially equal to the first volume difference. The portion of the first enclosed volume that is outside the first internal volume defines a second acoustic cavity having a second cavity volume that is substantially equal to the first cavity volume. This configuration enables the performance of low frequency acoustic drivers in the speaker modules to be substantially matched without requiring complicated alternative approaches for matched performance.

Speaker

US Patent:
2017024, Aug 24, 2017
Filed:
Feb 18, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/046915
Inventors:
- Framingham MA, US
Kevin Joseph Brousseau - Newton MA, US
Randy J. Kulchy - Shrewsbury MA, US
Benjamin C. Lippitt - Worcester MA, US
Assignee:
Bose Corporation - Framingham MA
International Classification:
H04R 1/02
Abstract:
A speaker includes a housing, a member secured to the housing, and a locking pin which passes through a first portion of the speaker. The member substantially covers at least two sides of the locking pin. The member thus provides some protection against the locking pin unintentionally coming into contact with another object. The member has two or more feet which are secured to the member and which can support the speaker on a substantially horizontal surface when the speaker is oriented such that the member is facing the surface.

Conformable Adaptors For Diffraction Slots In Speakers

US Patent:
2017018, Jun 22, 2017
