Universally Functional Biomedical Electrode

US Patent:
6356779, Mar 12, 2002
Filed:
Jun 4, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/326778
Inventors:
Kevin R. Katzenmaier - Woodbury MN
Samuel G. Netherly - Afton MN
Hatim M. Carim - West St. Paul MN
Assignee:
3M Innovative Properties Company - St. Paul MN
International Classification:
A61B 50408
US Classification:
600391, 600392, 606 32, 607142, 607152
Abstract:
A universally functional biomedical electrode is disclosed, where the electrode has a resistive element that reduces edge effect by a redistribution of current within the electrode and in mammalian tissue contacting the electrode. In one embodiment, the electrode has at its perimeter in one layer the resistive element that provides a cross-sectional area to reduce edge effect regardless of the type of biomedical instrumentation connected thereto. With the construction of other layers suitable for multifunctional electrode usage, this electrode can serve as a single item in inventory at health facilities.

Electronic Management Of Sterilization Process Information

US Patent:
7899681, Mar 1, 2011
Filed:
Mar 29, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/113923
Inventors:
Kevin R. Katzenmaier - Woodbury MN, US
Janet M. Prust - Stillwater MN, US
Andrew C. Daus - St. Louis MO, US
Assignee:
3M Innovative Properties Company - St. Paul MN
International Classification:
G06Q 10/00
US Classification:
705 2, 702 19, 422 22, 424449, 436 1
Abstract:
A system for electronic management of information relating to sterilization and high level disinfection process monitoring generates electronic sterilization record for sterilized and high level disinfected loads, and optically scans sterilization monitors associated with the sterilized loads. The system stores a digital representation of each scanned sterilization monitor, and associates the digital representation with the electronic sterilization record. The electronic sterilization record also may contain a variety of information including a sterilization status data entered by a user. The system permits a user to review both the sterilization status information and the digitized representation of the sterilization monitor online to verify accuracy. In this manner, a representation of the actual sterilization monitor can be stored and retrieved when desired for verification of result, audits and other quality review activity.
