Abstract:
Human rabies monoclonal antibodies (rabies MAb) comprising rabies human MAb S057 heavy chain and light chain subunits are expressed and assembled in plants under the control of two strong constitutive promoters. Additionally, regulatory control elements such as alfalfa mosaic virus untranslated leader sequence and Lys-Asp-Glu-Leu (KDEL) endoplasmic reticulum retention signal were linked at the N- and C-terminus of the heavy chain of human rabies MAb, respectively to regulate expression of the rabies MAb. Rabies MAbwas as effective at neutralizing the activity of the rabies virus as the mammalian-derived antibody (MAb) or human rabies immunoglobulin (HRIG).
