Systems And Methods For Handovers Between Base Radios

US Patent:
7353030, Apr 1, 2008
Filed:
Jul 29, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/192120
Inventors:
Lakhbir Singh - Fairfax VA, US
Assignee:
Nextel Communications Inc. - Reston VA
International Classification:
H04Q 7/20
US Classification:
455442, 455436, 455437, 455439, 455453, 455561, 4555621, 370329, 370331, 370332, 370333
Abstract:
A system and method for reducing power consumption and interference in a communications system that has multiple base radios. A base radio controller assigns priorities to the base radios in the system. When higher priority base radios have excess capacity, intracell handovers are used to consolidate communications from lower priority base radios to higher priority base radios. After transferring communications to higher priority base radios, the lower priority base radios can attenuate or shut off their transmitted signal in order to reduce or eliminate all the interference they cause other base stations in the system, and reduce transmission power requirements.

System And Method Of Providing Data Fill Application To Support Large-Scale Configuration Changes

US Patent:
2006009, May 11, 2006
Filed:
Nov 5, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/982059
Inventors:
Lakhbir Singh - Herndon VA, US
Lisa Lutz - Lee IL, US
International Classification:
H04M 1/00
US Classification:

Abstract:
A wireless communication system is disclosed, comprising a network; a plurality of base stations coupled to the network; and an operations and management center comprising a network interface coupled to the network, and a processor to: generate a new frequency plan for the plurality of base stations; compare the new frequency plan with a current frequency plan; determine which parameters of which base stations of the plurality of base stations require modification; and create and send a new configuration file incorporating the new frequency plan to the base stations whose parameters require modification in order to modify the parameters, wherein the new configuration file is sent to the base stations by way of the network interface.

Lte Network Extension (Lne) System, Methods, And Apparatus

US Patent:
2022033, Oct 20, 2022
Filed:
Jul 4, 2022
Appl. No.:
17/857138
Inventors:
- St. Louis MO, US
Lakhbir Singh - Aurora CO, US
International Classification:
H04W 48/16
H04W 48/18
H04W 48/02
H04W 88/16
H04W 8/26
Abstract:
An LTE network extension (LNE) system includes an LTE access gateway (LAG) and a provisioned database. A plurality of LTE access radios in the LNE system broadcast the same shared PLMN ID (sPLMN ID). The sPLMN ID corresponds to a plurality of service provider core networks, each with a different PLMN. The provisioned database includes information identifying which networks are allowed to use the LNE system and includes service provider network address information. An LTE access radio, transmitting the sPLMN ID detects an attach request from a UE, and forwards the attach request to the LAG, which decides if access is to be allowed, based on a service provider home network PLMN included in an IMSI in the attach request and information in the provisioned database. If access is allowed, the LAG serves as a proxy between the LTE access radio and the UE's service provider home network.

Transfer Of Spectrum Grants During Inter-Sas Cbsd Migration

US Patent:
2023000, Jan 5, 2023
Filed:
Jul 2, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/366516
Inventors:
- St. Louis MO, US
Lakhbir Singh - Aurora CO, US
Assignee:
Charter Communications Operating, LLC - St. Louis MO
International Classification:
H04W 16/14
H04W 72/14
H04W 72/04
Abstract:
In certain embodiments, one or more Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) service devices (CBSDs) may be migrated from their current Spectrum Access System (SAS) to a new SAS, where at least one existing PAL or GAA spectrum grant is transferred from the current SAS to the new SAS without waiting for a timer associated with the existing spectrum grant to expire. CBSDs may be migrated one at a time or multiple CBSDs of a single service provider may be migrated in a single process where the multiple CBSDs are identified by a shared organization ID associated with the service provider. In either case, a migrating CBSD can continue to use its previously existing spectrum grants after migrating to the new SAS without significant delay.

Monitoring And Switchover Of Shared Spectrum Allocation Manager In A Wireless Network

US Patent:
2021012, Apr 29, 2021
Filed:
Jan 5, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/141390
Inventors:
- St. Louis MO, US
Lakhbir Singh - Aurora CO, US
International Classification:
H04W 24/04
H04L 12/24
H04W 16/14
Abstract:
According to one configuration, a system includes provisioning hardware and a wireless station that supports communications with one or more communication devices. The wireless station receives a first notification from the provisioning system. The first notification indicating that the wireless station is assigned to a first allocation management resource. The first allocation management resource operable to allocate wireless resources for use by the wireless station to support wireless communications. The wireless station communicates with the first allocation management resource to receive allocation information indicating the wireless resources allocated for use by the wireless station. In response to receiving a second notification that the wireless station has been reassigned to a second allocation management resource, the wireless station communicates with the second allocation management resource instead of the first allocation management resource to receive the allocation information.

Dynamic Split Of Communication Layer Processing

US Patent:
2021009, Mar 25, 2021
Filed:
Sep 24, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/580532
Inventors:
- St. Louis MO, US
Lakhbir Singh - Aurora CO, US
International Classification:
H04W 16/08
H04W 36/12
H04W 36/16
H04W 36/22
H04W 16/04
Abstract:
A network environment includes a first station, a second station, and a communication manager. The communication manager monitors a backhaul between the first station and the second station. In one arrangement, the first station is a wireless access point providing wireless connectivity to multiple mobile communication devices. During operation, the backhaul conveys communications between the first station and the second station. Based on the monitoring, the communication manager produces a metric indicating an ability of the backhaul to convey communications. Based on the metric, the communication manager determines a split of multiple processing layers in a wireless protocol stack. To accommodate the split, the communication manager assigns a first portion of multiple network communication layers to the first station for processing and a second portion of the multiple network communication layers to the second station for processing.
