Abstract:
A cleansing bar includes a surfactant-containing body, which includes a top surface, a bottom surface that is substantially opposite to the top surface, first and second ends, and first and second sides extending horizontally and meeting at the first and second ends to together define a perimeter around the cleansing bar between the top and bottom surfaces. A first horizontally-extending groove is formed in at least the first side surface. According to one embodiment, the first horizontally-extending groove extends only partially between the first and second ends. A second horizontally-extending groove is formed in the second side surface, and also extends only partially between the first and second ends. According to another embodiment, the first horizontally-extending groove is further formed around the first and second ends and in the second side surface to encircle the cleansing bar.

Methods for formulating a cleansing composition having a desired fragrance profile are provided. In one embodiment, the method includes the step of determining a quantity of filler to be included in the cleansing composition wherein the quantity of filler is about 1% to about 10% by weight of the cleaning composition (WCC). The method also includes the step of selecting a first fragrance quantity to be included in the cleansing composition. The first fragrance quantity is selected to be about 1% to about 10% less than a second fragrance quantity, expressed as a percentage by WCC, necessary to substantially achieve the desired fragrance profile if the cleansing composition comprised less than about 1% by WCC of filler.

Abstract:
The present invention is a solid translucent deodorant stick that exhibits remarkable efficacy against gram positive bacteria. Maintenance of translucency in spite of a high level of antimicrobial is possible through use of solubilized 3,4,4′-trichlorocarbanilide. The solubilized TCC is formed as a premix which is then added to the some or all of the remaining ingredients comprising a stearate-gelled glycol solvent stick.
