Dry Cleaning Solvent Filtration And Steam Distillation Recovery System

US Patent:
5069755, Dec 3, 1991
Filed:
Apr 20, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/512165
Inventors:
Larry L. Durr - Indianapolis IN
B. Jan Clay - Indianapolis IN
Larry J. Durr - Indianapolis IN
International Classification:
B01D 338
B01D 2700
D06F 4308
US Classification:
202169
Abstract:
A dry cleaning solvent recovery and filtering system includes a dry cleaning solvent tank containing solvent for use in a dry cleaning machine. A filtration path from the tank includes a centrifugal separator for removing coarse debris and a filter element for removing fine debris from the solvent fluid. The filter element includes a perforated metal cylinder, having an open mouth, with a Teflon. RTM. coated screen forming the interior debris collection surface. A rinsing spray nozzle situated at the mouth of the filter element directs a fluid spray under pressure against the collection surface in the same direction that debris contaminated solvent fluid flows therethrough. The pressure of the fluid spray is sufficient to dislodge fine debris adhered to the collection surface without forcing the debris into the perforations of the filter element.

Method For Continuous Vapor Recovery

US Patent:
4175932, Nov 27, 1979
Filed:
Mar 13, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/886290
Inventors:
Larry J. Durr - Indianapolis IN
Larry L. Durr - Indianapolis IN
B. Jan Clay - Indianapolis IN
International Classification:
B01D 5304
US Classification:
55 59
Abstract:
A method is disclosed herein for recovering a vaporous material from a continuous gas stream. Two charcoal filter assemblies are mounted for raising into a passageway defined by a chamber. The charcoal filters may alternately be lowered from the passageway and into a container for regeneration. The container is filled with water which is then heated to vaporize an azeotrope of the water and the material adsorbed by the charcoal. The water is then drained from the container, and the filter is returned to its position within the passageway.
