Sep 12, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/611523
Inventors:
Liang Xu - Houston TX, US
Qiang Fu - Houston TX, US
Assignee:
Multi-Chem Group, LLC - San Angelo TX
International Classification:
C09K 8/584
G01N 13/02
G01N 13/00
US Classification:
73 6451, 73 5301, 73 6448, 7315218
Abstract:
A method of determining the suitability of a surfactant for use in a formation can include sampling water in the formation, providing at least two surfactants, and mixing each of the surfactants with the formation water to form surfactant/water samples. The method can further include determining the solubility of each surfactant with the formation water, comparing the solubility of each surfactant with the other surfactant, and assigning a solubility performance value for each surfactant based on its solubility in the formation water sample compared to the other surfactant.

Enhancement Of Friction Reducer Performance In Hydraulic Fracturing

US Patent:
2022038, Dec 1, 2022
Filed:

Appl. No.:
17/883113
Inventors:
- Houston TX, US
Leiming Li - Sugar Land TX, US
Liang Xin Xu - The Woodlands TX, US
Johnathan Scott Hazlewood - Kingwood TX, US
James William Ogle - Livingston TX, US
Assignee:
Halliburton Energy Services, Inc. - Houston TX
International Classification:
C09K 8/68
C09K 8/80

Abstract:
A method may include: providing a fracturing fluid including, but not limited to, an aqueous base fluid, a friction reducer, and a friction reduction booster; and introducing the fracturing fluid into the subterranean formation.

Synergistic Enhancement Of Slickwater Fracturing Fluids

US Patent:
2022034, Oct 27, 2022
Filed:
Apr 23, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/239077
Inventors:
- Houston TX, US
Chunli Li - The Woodlands TX, US
Liang Xu - Spring TX, US
Philip D. Nguyen - Houston TX, US
Assignee:
Halliburton Energy Services, Inc. - Houston TX
International Classification:
C09K 8/68
C09K 8/80
E21B 43/26
Abstract:
A slickwater fracturing fluid that includes a brine with dissolved solids, an anionic friction reducing additive, a polysaccharide, and a nanomaterial that includes nanoparticles with an average particle size between about 1 nm and about 500 nm. The polysaccharide and the anionic friction reducing additive synergistically reduce friction of the slickwater fracturing fluid so as to increase an injection rate of the slickwater fracturing fluid. Also, the polysaccharide, the anionic friction reducing additive, and the nanomaterial synergistically provide viscosity to the slickwater fracturing fluid so as to increase proppant transport capability. Also described is a method of fracturing a subterranean formation by pumping the slickwater fracturing fluid into a borehole and fracturing the subterranean formation with the slickwater fracturing fluid.

Enhancement Of Friction Reducer Performance In Hydraulic Fracturing

US Patent:

Enhanced Friction Reducers For Water-Based Fracturing Fluids

US Patent:
2021036, Nov 25, 2021
Filed:
May 22, 2020
Appl. No.:
16/881175
Inventors:
- Houston TX, US
Liang XU - Houston TX, US
Todd COLLIER - Oklahoma City OK, US
Assignee:
Halliburton Energy Services, Inc. - Houston TX
International Classification:
C09K 8/60
C09K 8/80
C09K 8/88
Abstract:
A fracturing fluid can include: a base fluid, wherein the base fluid comprises water; proppant; a friction reducer; and a friction reducer enhancer, wherein the friction reducer enhancer is a surfactant. The friction reducer enhancer can be in a concentration greater than or equal to a critical micelle concentration. Methods of fracturing a subterranean formation can include introducing the fracturing fluid into the subterranean formation. The friction reducer enhancer can increase the hydration rate of the friction reducer, whereby friction reduction of the fracturing fluid can occur much faster than without the friction reducer enhancer.

Water-Based Friction Reducing Additives

US Patent:
2021030, Sep 30, 2021
Filed:
