Counterbalanced Weight System

US Patent:
4349192, Sep 14, 1982
Filed:
Dec 17, 1979
Appl. No.:
6/103895
Inventors:
Lloyd J. Lambert - South Houston TX
International Classification:
A63B 2106
US Classification:
272118
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a counterbalance weight system for use with exercising machines in order to negate the weight that is intrinsic to a weight lifting structure, so as to provide a true indication of the amount of work being done. The machine is defined by a framework which supports a plurality of weights the magnitude of which is selectively adjustable, an area to accommodate a user so as to lift the weights, and counterbalance weights operatively connected and opposing the preceeding structure so that the weight of the associated hardware necessary to perform the exercise is effectively cancelled out, and the weights lifted and selectable are solely that which constitutes the work of the exercise.

Leg Extension, Leg Curl, Hip, Thigh, Back And Buttocks Machine

US Patent:
4200279, Apr 29, 1980
Filed:
Apr 5, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/893615
Inventors:
Lloyd J. Lambert - South Houston TX
International Classification:
A63B 2100
US Classification:
272118
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are devices which are characterized in their ability to isolate a specific lower body muscle and by working against weights through a system of pulleys and cams, provide concentrated development of that specific lower body muscle. The mechanisms described hereinafter include a place to accommodate the machine user, a substantially cylindrical cushioned element oriented for engagement by the users legs, and a cable and gearing network including chain and cam and pulley mechanisms associated with weights the magnitude of which are selectable so that the work done against the weights focuses on a specific lower body muscle depending upon the orientation of the user and additionally provides an orientation of the weights relative to the user such that any sudden release of the load or work being done against the weights can in no way engage and harm the user.

Wrist Curl Machine

US Patent:
4373717, Feb 15, 1983
Filed:
Nov 1, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/956675
Inventors:
Lloyd J. Lambert - South Houston TX
International Classification:
A63B 2300
US Classification:
272 67
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a wrist curl machine fabricated to isolate the wrist muscle and lower forearm muscle for development to the exclusion of all others and is defined by three hand grip areas, two sprockets associated with these three hand grip areas and chain elements operatively connected with these sprockets which in turn traverse through weights and a counter balance system whereby the counter balance system negates the weight of the elements associated with the structure and the variable weights themselves provide the total resistance to the work done by the wrist or the forearm of the exerciser. The framework is associated with and supports the hand grip, sprocket, chain, counter balance, and weight mechanism so that the machine can be used when the exerciser is erect.

Exercise Bar For Physical Exerciser

US Patent:
D262815, Jan 26, 1982
Filed:
Dec 4, 1979
Appl. No.:
6/100158
Inventors:
Lloyd J. Lambert - South Houston TX
International Classification:
D2102
US Classification:
D21198

Standing Calf Exercise Machine

US Patent:
4236712, Dec 2, 1980
Filed:
Jan 31, 1979
Appl. No.:
6/007959
Inventors:
Lloyd J. Lambert - South Houston TX
International Classification:
A63B 2106
US Classification:
272118
Abstract:
An apparatus for exercising the calf muscles defined by a framework in which a top extremity thereof is provided with a pair of horizontally extending arms pivoted to a pair of top frame members interconnected and capable of rotation, shoulder pads disposed on the bottom face of these rods at extremities remote from the pivot point, a rigidifying cross brace provided with an opening through which a vertically extending rod is adjustably pinned. This rod traverses through a plurality of weights whose magnitude is selectable and substantially beneath the shoulder pads there is provided on the floor a toe support so that one's toes while standing thereon allows the heel to extend out into space. The exercise is performed by flexing the arch and standing on one's toes which provides tension to the calf muscle.

Abdominal Sidebend Machine-Upper

US Patent:
4349191, Sep 14, 1982
Filed:
Dec 5, 1979
Appl. No.:
6/100573
Inventors:
Lloyd J. Lambert - South Houston TX
International Classification:
A63B 2302
A63B 2106
A63B 2116
US Classification:
272118
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is an upper abdominal sidebend machine including a base frame which carries a weight supporting cage thereon, a seating area supported by the base, a roller trackway which revolves about the seat having an upwardly extending transverse track which supports a pair of upwardly extending pads thereon whose displacement from a center area on the roller is adjustable so that an exercisor may loop one arm over the pad and one arm in front of the pad to provide an exercise in which rotation about the seat does work on the upper abdomen. The roller is connected by means of a sprocket to a plurality of weights through chains and sprockets and a cam so that the twisting motion that one undergoes in performing the exercise can be met with weighted resistance to reduce the number of repetitions required in conditioning this area of the body.

Cable Crossover Exercise Machine

US Patent:
D262813, Jan 26, 1982
Filed:
Dec 4, 1979
Appl. No.:
6/100178
Inventors:
Lloyd J. Lambert - South Houston TX
International Classification:
D2102
US Classification:
D21195

Apparatus For Exercising The Inner And Outer Thigh Muscles

US Patent:
4349194, Sep 14, 1982
Filed:
Aug 20, 1980
Appl. No.:
6/179726
Inventors:
Lloyd J. Lambert - South Houston TX
International Classification:
A63B 2106
US Classification:
272118
Abstract:
Apparatus for exercising the inner and outer thigh muscles of an individual which includes a frame having a seat and a weight cage of a weight movable upwardly from a rest position with pivotally mounted leg receiving frames for accommodating the legs of an individual on the seat movable independently in an arcuate path from a predetermined rotary position corresponding to the rest position of the weight by lateral movement of the individual's legs with a chain and sprocket drive for drivably connecting each leg receiving frame to a respective D-shaped cam connected in turn to the weight so that pivotal movement of each of the leg receiving frames from the predetermined rotary position moves the weight upwardly to provide resistance to such lateral leg movement thereby exercising the inner and outer thigh muscles of the individual.
