Dynamic Debugging Dump For Game Console

US Patent:
8088011, Jan 3, 2012
Filed:
Nov 8, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/268447
Inventors:
Zachary Lewis Russell - Bellevue WA, US
Luke Wilson Timmins - Sammamish WA, US
Harold Gentry Ryan - Bellevue WA, US
Stefan Christopher Sinclair - Kirkland WA, US
Assignee:
Microsoft Corporation - Redmond WA
International Classification:
G06F 11/00
US Classification:
463 43, 463 42, 714 45
Abstract:
An error data dumping process on a game console is described, in which a request for an error data dump may be initiated using commands mapped to a handheld game controller. The request may include parameters for customizing the resulting dump, where the parameters may identify one or more physical memory address ranges to be included in the dump. Allocated virtual memory contents may also be added to the dump data structure, as can call stack data (such as thread lists and module lists) and system information. The assembled dump data can be written to a file and uploaded, via secure communication, to a network location where it may be indexed.

Game Strategy Analysis Tool

US Patent:
2008009, Apr 24, 2008
Filed:
Nov 7, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/267193
Inventors:
Aaron David Lieberman - Seattle WA, US
Zachary Lewis Russell - Bellevue WA, US
Luke Wilson Timmins - Sammamish WA, US
Thomas George Gioconda - Bellevue WA, US
Assignee:
Microsoft Corporation - Redmond WA
International Classification:
A63F 9/24
US Classification:
463 42
Abstract:
Methods and systems for recording and analyzing game session telemetry data are disclosed. A game console records telemetry data during a game session of a video game. The telemetry data may include location and time information for a player character performing various events in the video game. The telemetry data is sent to a title server corresponding to the video game, and the title server analyzes the data and stores the data in a database. A user, via a web site, can subsequently query the telemetry data stored in the database for user-specified criteria. A two-dimensional image of a view of the simulated environment within the video game is generated, overlaid with the location and time-based telemetry data, and is sent to the user for review and analysis.

Apparatus And Method For Improved Presentation Of Objects In A Distributed Interactive Simulation

US Patent:
2013012, May 16, 2013
Filed:
May 3, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/463764
Inventors:
David Scott Aldridge - Kirkland WA, US
Luke Wilson Timmins - Sammamish WA, US
Christopher Charles John Butcher - Seattle WA, US
Assignee:
Bungie, Inc. - Bellevue WA
International Classification:
G06T 15/00
US Classification:
345419
Abstract:
Systems and methods for substantially contemporaneously presenting a distributed simulation at multiple computing devices. A first computing device controls an object in the simulation. A second computing device generates a visual representation of the object associated with a visual status. The second computing device generates a predicted status and receives an update including new status from the first computing device. A portion of the predicted status is set equal to a portion of the new status, and a discrepancy between the predicted and visual statuses is determined. When the discrepancy is greater than a first threshold, at least one velocity of the predicted status may be modified. When the discrepancy is greater than a second threshold, the visual status is modified based at least in part on the predicted status. A new visual representation of the object is rendered based at least in part on the visual status, and displayed.
