Assignee:
Harvey Holdings, LLC - Westland MI
International Classification:
F02B 47/08
F02M 25/07
US Classification:
12356817, 606052
Abstract:
A mixing apparatus adapted for mixing the flow of intake air and exhaust gas in a mixing chamber of a combustion engine including a housing having a bore formed therethrough extending between a first open end and a second open end. The housing includes a plurality of apertures formed in a side wall thereof adjacent the first open end. A retention member is formed in the side wall adjacent the second open end and is adapted to secure the mixing apparatus within the mixing chamber. The mixing apparatus includes a flow deflector disposed in the bore of the housing. The flow deflector includes a plurality of curved deflector surfaces formed therein which correspond in number to and are aligned with the plurality of apertures. An end cap is secured to the housing at the first open end thereof for closing the bore at the first open end.

Engine Coolant Crossover Assembly

US Patent:
2005006, Mar 24, 2005
Filed:
Sep 24, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/670768
Inventors:
David Kapala - Shelby Township MI, US
Michael Dunn - Canton MI, US
Marcello Tedesco - Saline MI, US
John Frait - Ann Arbor MI, US
International Classification:
F02M035/10
F02B075/18
US Classification:
123041280, 123041740, 123184310
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a coolant crossover member and intake manifold assembly adapted for use in a vehicle engine and method for producing the same. The crossover and manifold assembly includes crossover and a manifold. The crossover has a passage formed therein extending between a first end and a second end thereof. The manifold is joined to the first and second ends of the crossover. The manifold is provided with first and second openings which define first and second inner surfaces, respectively. According to the present invention, at least one of the first end and the second end of the crossover is disposed within one of the first and the second openings of the manifold such that the at least one of the first end and the second end of the crossover completely covers the one of the first and the second inner surfaces of the one of the first and the second openings thereby preventing fluid from contacting the one of the first and second inner surfaces of the one of the first and second openings of the manifold.

Modular Cross-Ram High Performance Intake Manifold For V-Type Multi-Cylinder Internal Combustion Engines

US Patent:
2011016, Jul 14, 2011
Filed:
Jan 11, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/004410
Inventors:
Brenda BRUMAN - Shelby Twp MI, US
Marcello Tedesco - Shelby Twp MI, US
International Classification:
F02M 35/116
US Classification:
12318435
Abstract:
A modular intake manifold system that allows different assembly embodiments enabling different ramming effects for a V type multi-cylinder internal combustion engine. The present invention comprises a uniquely shaped runner manifold and plenum chambers for optimized airflow.

Method For Producing Three Separate And Distinct Intake Manifolds From A Single Intake Manifold Casting For Three Different Multi-Cylinder Internal Combustion Engine Applications

US Patent:
2011016, Jul 14, 2011
Filed:
Jan 11, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/004476
Inventors:
Brenda Bruman - Shelby Twp MI, US
Marcello Tedesco - Shelby Twp MI, US
International Classification:
B29C 37/00
B29C 39/02
US Classification:
264138, 2642978
Abstract:
A method for producing different distinct intake manifolds from a single intake manifold casting mold. It is the objective of the present invention to reduce costs and tooling for the manufacturing of different intake manifolds by using a single intake manifold casting mold. The intake manifolds created by the casting mold are then differentiated for a corresponding engine by means of modifications. The intake runners of the intake manifolds are machine cut to fit the corresponding cylinder heads of the combustion engine. The modifications to the intake modification ensure maximum air flow efficiency for greater engine performance.
