System And Method For Wireless Process Communication Over Distinct Networks

US Patent:
8315263, Nov 20, 2012
Filed:
Jun 18, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/487018
Inventors:
Frederick Enns - Menlo Park CA, US
Martin Zielinski - Chanhassen MN, US
Jose A. Gutierrez - St. Louis MO, US
Assignee:
Fisher-Rosemount Systems, Inc. - Round Rock TX
International Classification:
H04L 12/28
H04J 3/16
US Classification:
370400, 370466
Abstract:
A dual-mode router for conveying process communication packets across a plurality of distinct wireless process communication networks is provided. The router includes wireless communication circuitry and a controller coupled to the wireless communication circuitry. The wireless communication circuitry is configured to interact with signals from each of the plurality of distinct wireless process communication networks. The controller is configured to adapt process communication packets from a first distinct wireless process communication network for transmission over a second distinct wireless process communication network. Methods for configuring the distinct wireless process communication networks and relaying process packets over the distinct wireless process communication networks are also provided.

Wireless Communication Method Between Handheld Field Maintenance Tools

US Patent:
2003020, Oct 30, 2003
Filed:
May 15, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/438386
Inventors:
Martin Zielinski - Chanhassen MN, US
Christopher Kantzes - Minneapolis MN, US
Gregory Opheim - St. Paul MN, US
Benjamin Horgen - Rochester MN, US
Assignee:
Fisher-Rosemount Systems, Inc. - Austin TX
International Classification:
G06F011/30
G06F015/00
G21C017/00
US Classification:
702/184000
Abstract:
A method of communicating data between two intrinsically safe handheld field tools is provided. The method includes physically orienting both devices to facilitate such communication. Then, one device is preferably selected as a master device. Each tool is then placed in a communication mode wherein wireless communication occurs between the tools. Preferably, the master unit provides a selection to the technician to choose which of the available information should be shared between the tools.

Field Maintenance Tool With Improved Device Description Communication And Storage

US Patent:
2003022, Dec 11, 2003
Filed:
May 16, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/440047
Inventors:
Christopher Kantzes - Minneapolis MN, US
Gregory Opheim - St. Paul MN, US
