Second Runner Up - GluTact
Texas Venture Labs Investment Competition
The glucose monitoring contact lens GluTact™ is a patent pending breakthrough in the Diabetic-glucose monitoring space. The McCombs Texas Venture Labs Investment Competition (VLIC) is designed to mimic the real world process of raising venture capital. The competition helps University of Texas graduate students gain real experience in the process while developing and growing new ventures based on their own ideas and technologies, or those developed by others.
Third Place - Optenna
UT Idea 2 Product (I2P) Competition
The I2P competition is an early-stage technology commercialization plan competition that is open to UT Austin students of all disciplines who are interested in technology-focused entrepreneurship. McCombs Business School Press Release, May 5, 2004: The third place team, OpTenna, was composed of three undergraduates: Matt Poplawski, a junior in chemical engineering, Vinay Raval, a junior in economics, and Gus Perez, a senior in biology. Their plan was to build an antenna optimized to be as small as possible, so that you could have a cell phone no bigger than a fun-size candy bar. “Would you want a cell phone that size?” mused Poplawski. “I don’t know, but we could make it!”
Third Place - Betalain
UT Idea 2 Product (I2P) Competition
The I2P competition is an early-stage technology commercialization plan competition that is open to UT Austin students of all disciplines who are interested in technology-focused entrepreneurship.
