Method And System For Exporting Flight Data For Long Term Storage

US Patent:
7181478, Feb 20, 2007
Filed:
Aug 11, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/637442
Inventors:
Shannon Lee Korson - Middletown OH, US
Sharon Ann Garls - Hamilton OH, US
Michael Dean Fullington - West Chester OH, US
Scott Allen Goertemiller - Cincinnati OH, US
Assignee:
General Electric Company - Schenectady NY
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
707204, 707201, 707202
Abstract:
The availability of flight data used in the maintenance of aircraft engines is enhanced by exporting data from the database of an engine condition monitoring program to a long term database. The data export is accomplished by first reading a time file to determine the last date and time that data was successfully exported to the destination database. The program database is then searched for data that is new or changed since the last successful export. Any data found in searching the program database is retrieved and exported to the destination database. After a successful export, the date and time of the successful export is updated in the time file.

System And Method For Trending Exhaust Gas Temperature In A Turbine Engine

Assignee:
General Electric Company - Niskayuna NY
International Classification:
G01F 19/00
US Classification:
702184, 374100
Abstract:
A method for estimating a trend in exhaust gas temperature in a turbine engine includes sampling exhaust gas temperature and a plurality of variables associated with the exhaust gas temperature over a set of observation times for a turbine engine to acquire exhaust gas temperature data. A trend in the exhaust gas temperature for the specific turbine engine is identified by removing the effect of the plurality of variables on the exhaust gas temperature data.

Abstract:
A system for collecting and storing performance data for an engine is provided. The system includes one or more sensors configured to generate sensor data signals representative of one or more engine data performance parameters. The system further includes a data sampling component, a data quantizing component, a data storage sampling rate component, a data encoding component and a data storage component. The data sampling component is configured to sample the sensor data signals at a data sampling rate. The data quantizing component is configured to generate quantized data samples corresponding to the sampled sensor data signals. The data storage sampling rate component is configured to determine a data storage sampling rate for the quantized data samples, based on an analysis of at least a subset of the quantized data samples. The data encoding component is configured to encode the quantized data samples according to the data storage sampling rate, and the data storage component is configured to store the encoded data samples from the encoding component.
