Description:
"There's nothing 'average' about Southern California real estate," says Michael Greenwald, "and there's nothing average about the people who sell it and buy it. Discovering what's unique about my clients and helping them express that through their property investment choices with a minimum of stress is really the essence of my business." Within the region's varied topography, architectural styles, price ranges and market conditions, Michael Greenwald has established himself as one of the industry's leaders. For nearly 20 years, he has approached each transaction with his signature commitment to education, communication and organization - a style that shifts stress away from his clients by clarifying expectations, reducing distractions, foreseeing obstacles, eliminating surprises and preparing for appropriate action. "It's about respect," Michael says. "Whether the client is buying or selling, investing or remodeling, their vision and goals continually inform their decisions - and my representation. I have experience sitting on both sides of the table. I know really deeply what buyers and sellers need, the issues that both parties have to deal with, and I respect the importance of each choice they have to make. If I can help to simplify those choices, I've helped the client have a better experience." That philosophy and style has led to a career of record-breaking sales and consistent top production, but Michael Greenwald's route to real estate was not as straightforward as his sales figures. Born and raised on the Westside, Michael spent his youth in the Santa Monica area and earned a Master's degree in Speech Communication from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Some of his first experiences in the business world were in the entertainment industry, where he worked as a scriptwriter and assistant director. Notably, he penned the script for the final episode of Hawaii 5-0, and was thus the last person to pen the immortal words, "Book him, Danno." But the entertainment industry was not the only field in which Michael excelled. He opened a chain of highly successful health clubs on the Westside, including Matrix One and Mezzeplex Fitness Complexes, and also applied his entrepreneurial talents in advertising, building an ad agency that was known for its outstanding images, logos, marketing campaigns and corporate identities in the real estate, health care, fitness and entertainment industries. "My past experiences are very, very important in today's real estate climate," Michael emphasizes. "In these unusual times it calls for unusual marketing and thinking out of the box. You cannot just put a sign on a property or scan the MLS for your clients. Marketing and networking are the two most critical ingredients for success in this market - which, of course means helping the client reach their goals." As fulfilling as he finds his work, Michael's life revolves around his family - his wife, Mira, and their daughter, Ilana, and son, Justin. In addition to biking, skiing and coaching baseball, Michael says, "My definition of a hobby is pretty much anything that I can do to have fun with my son and daughter," adding, "Having a family has helped me become a better real estate agent. I have a broader perspective on quality of life concerns, such as schools, neighborhoods, community and culture."
