Abstract:
A method for controlling the rheology of aqueous systems, particularly for those intended for underground use, includes injecting an aqueous viscoelastic fluid containing a surfactant gelling agent into the system. The viscoelastic surfactant composition of the invention comprises, as a gelling agent, at least one fatty aliphatic amidoamine oxide in a glycol solvent. The composition also maintains the levels of free fatty acid and free amine within critical parameters in order to achieve superior performance. The additives may be incorporated in the viscoelastic fluid to tailor its use in stimulation fluids, drilling muds, fracture fluids, and in applications such as permeability modification, gravel packing, cementing, and the like.

Filed:
Sep 8, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/657687
Inventors:
Salvatore Rea - Franklin Square NY, US
Malcolm Waddoups - Westfield NJ, US
Rolfe Hartley - Cranbury NJ, US
Ricardo Bloch - Scotch Plains NJ, US
Michael Hoey - Maplewood NJ, US
George L'Heureux - Scotch Plains NJ, US
International Classification:
C10M141/10
C10M141/12
US Classification:
508/291000, 508/364000, 508/365000, 508/408000, 508/433000, 508/438000, 508/579000, 508/584000
Abstract:
The lubricating compositions of the present invention are designed for use in a four stroke outboard marine engine and contain an oil of lubricating viscosity, an ashless dispersant, a metal detergent, a rust inhibitor system comprising a combination of certain rust inhibitors with an ethoxylated alkyl phenol, a relatively high amount of ZDDP, and an amount of a molybdenum compound sufficient to provide the composition with 15-1,000 ppm by mass of molybdenum. An amount of about 15 ppm to 1,000 ppm by mass of molybdenum from a molybdenum compound has been found to be effective as an antiwear agent in combination with the high levels of ZDDP.

Lubricant Composition Having Improved Antiwear Properties

US Patent:
2012003, Feb 9, 2012
Filed:
Jul 13, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/182116
Inventors:
Philippe Marc Andre Rabbat - New York NY, US
Ryan James Fenton - Norwalk CT, US
David Eliezer Chasan - Teaneck NJ, US
