I am a long time resident of Hampton Roads. My parents moved from New York to Virginia Beach in 1976. They offered to pay for my move and let me live with them for free. Since I was 5 at the time my options were limited. I grew up in Birchwood, a neighborhood in Virginia Beach near the Central Library. I graduated from Princess Anne High and continued on to T.C.C. where I acquired a degree in business administration. In 1990 at the age of 19 my wife and I purchased our first home, a townhouse near Lynnhaven Pkwy. and Holland Rd. in Virginia Beach, and my wife gave birth to our only child. In 1990 and 1991 I worked as a house painter. It’s not as glamorous a job as you might think. In 1992 I started doing flooring installation, working for a friend. By the end of 1992 I started working for myself as a flooring subcontractor. In 1993 my wife and I purchased some land in the Hickory area of Chesapeake. After living in the townhouse and hearing neighbors through the walls we decided we wanted a little more space. We sold the townhouse, which in hindsight we should have rented, and moved in with my parents while building our house in Chesapeake. I decided to be my own general contractor. After completing my house I decided I wanted to become a general contractor. In 1996 I got my class A contractors license and started developing lots and building houses. In late 1999 I had 2 spec homes I had built that were not selling, so I decided to get my real estate license and learn how to sell houses. In February of 2000 I became a licensed real estate agent and joined Wainright Real Estate. In 2002 a friend and I joined together to form a construction company doing additions and remodeling. In 2012 I decided I wanted to focus solely on helping people buy and sell homes. I am still a class A contractor, but at this time I refer any jobs I come across to others. I feel like its better to do one thing and do it well.
