Food Product Steamer

US Patent:
2010008, Apr 15, 2010
Filed:
Oct 10, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/249125
Inventors:
LOREN VELTROP - CHICAGO IL, US
DON VAN ERDEN - WILDWOOD IL, US
MICHAEL M. MACIEJEWSKI - SAINT CHARLES IL, US
Assignee:
PRINCE CASTLE INC. - CAROL STREAM IL
International Classification:
A47J 27/00
US Classification:
99467
Abstract:
A steamer for sandwich buns, bagels, croissants, cakes, vegetables, pastas, and other foods delivers fixed amounts of water onto a hot, dry platen through a vertically-oriented water conduit which is also thermally insulated from the hot platen and made from thermally insulating materials. The vertically-oriented water conduit retains water after a water supply is shut off at the beginning or end of a steam generating cycle. Orienting the conduit vertically reduces the surface area of liquid water exposed to air. Insulating the water conduit from the hot platen reduces the rate at which water standing in the conduit evaporates. Tubes used in the water conduit are insulating and easily removed from the water conduit assembly and flexible. Minerals that precipitate out of solution and become deposited onto the flexible tube are easily removed by flexing the flexible tube.

Food Product Toaster

US Patent:
2008028, Nov 27, 2008
Filed:
May 24, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/805671
Inventors:
Robert C. Long - Glenview IL, US
Michael M. Maciejewski - St. Charles IL, US
International Classification:
A47J 37/08
US Classification:
99399, 99400
Abstract:
A toaster for bread-type food products includes a housing defining at least one toasting cavity having an upper mouth for depositing the food products into the cavity and a lower opening from which toasted food products exit the cavity. A perforate rack is provided beneath the lower opening and onto which the toasted food products are deposited as they exit the cavity. The rack is perforated to significantly reduce the surface area of the rack which might otherwise stick to the toasted food products. An imperforate plate is juxtaposed behind the perforate rack to prevent crumbs from the toasted food products from falling into the bottom of the toaster. The plate is spaced from the rack a sufficient distance to prevent any portions of the toasted food products from projecting through the perforate rack and touching the plate and sticking thereto. As disclosed herein, the perforate rack is provided as a wire form structure. At least a portion of the rack is angled to form a ramp down which the toasted food products move toward the front of the toaster. Preferably, the imperforate plate comprises a metal sheet.

Apparatus And Method Of Toasting Bread-Type Food Products

US Patent:
2006026, Nov 23, 2006
Filed:
May 20, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/134487
Inventors:
Loren Veltrop - Deerfield IL, US
Michael Maciejewski - St. Charles IL, US
Henry Villegas - Frankfort IL, US
International Classification:
H05B 1/00
H05B 3/06
US Classification:
219521000
Abstract:
A dual function heating and toasting apparatus is provided for radiantly heating or surface toasting bread-type food products. The apparatus includes a housing defining a heating/toasting chamber. A generally vertically oriented, center fixed heating platen is disposed in the chamber. A pair of generally vertically oriented, movable heating platens are disposed on opposite sides of the center fixed platen. A gate is movably mounted on the housing near the bottoms of the platens for movement between a closed position to hold a product between the platens and an open position allowing a finished product to exit the chamber. A product such as a bagel can be placed into the chamber onto the gate between one of the movable platens and the fixed platen and spaced therefrom to heat the bagel by radiant heat. Alternatively, a product such as a bun can be placed in the chamber onto the gate and the movable platen moved to bias the bun against the fixed platen to surface toast the bun. The gate is movable to the open position to allow the heated bagel or the toasted bun to exit the chamber.

Manual Food Slicer

US Patent:
2005019, Sep 15, 2005
Filed:
Mar 13, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/799539
Inventors:
Loren Veltrop - Deerfield IL, US
Robert Long - Glenview IL, US
Michael Maciejewski - St. Charles IL, US
International Classification:
B26D001/30
US Classification:
083599000, 083607000
Abstract:
A manually-operated apparatus is provided for slicing a food product. The apparatus includes a base for supporting the apparatus on an appropriate support surface. An anvil is disposed on top of the base and includes a support surface on which the food product is positioned. A cutting head has a plurality of cutting blades for cutting the food product. A common pivot shaft pivotally mounts both the anvil and the cutting head to the base. The cutting head is mounted for pivotal movement between an elevated position allowing the food product to be positioned on the anvil and a lowered cutting position whereat the cutting blades have sliced through the food product and into slots in the anvil. The anvil is mounted for pivotal movement between a generally horizontal food-supporting position and an elevated cleaning position allowing food products to be cleaned off of the base.
