In law enforcement roles at academic centers, Mr. Martinsen managed the operations for university police departments. From 2008 until 2010, he served as Chief of Police at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, before receiving a promotion to Assistant Vice President. In charge of planning and directing the Police Department’s operations, protecting life and property, and preventing campus crime, Michael Martinsen performed numerous functions, including enforcing university statutes and regulations, investigating accidents, and implementing the department’s short- and long-range objectives. Before his tenure at Wright State University, Mr. Martinsen was Chief of Police and Director of Campus Safety at Ohio University from 2006 until 2008. In his role as Chief of Police, he coordinated and directed all law enforcement functions at Ohio University and maintained safety and protection programs to establish a safe campus for students and staff. His leadership of the campus community involved supporting and advising the university’s senior leadership staff and engaging in intricate managerial functions. Michael Martinsen built a foundation for his career with his academic endeavors. With a Bachelor of Arts in Public Safety Administration from Ohio University, he attended Seton Hall University in New Jersey and earned a Master of Arts in Strategic Communication and Leadership. He graduated from the School of Police Staff and Command at Northwestern University. He received an Associate of Arts from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
