Slide Distributor For A Chemical Analyzer

US Patent:
4296070, Oct 20, 1981
Filed:
Jun 16, 1980
Appl. No.:
6/159564
Inventors:
Michael S. Montalto - Rochester NY
Douglass L. Blanding - Rochester NY
Michael R. Smith - Rochester NY
Assignee:
Eastman Kodak Company - Rochester NY
International Classification:
G01N 3504
US Classification:
422 65
Abstract:
A slide distributor is disclosed for transferring analysis slides between a plurality of modular elements in a chemical analyzer. The distributor comprises a rotor having a plurality of radial arms each of which has a slide holder adapted to receive an analysis slide and to transport the slide to a selected location in the analyzer. The slide holders are adapted to interact with locating means at each of the elements to facilitate the processing of the slides and transfer of the slides between the elements.

Web Tracking Apparatus

US Patent:
3974952, Aug 17, 1976
Filed:
Sep 10, 1974
Appl. No.:
5/504771
Inventors:
Thaddeus Swanke - Rochester NY
Michael S. Montalto - Rochester NY
John E. Morse - Rochester NY
Assignee:
Eastman Kodak Company - Rochester NY
International Classification:
B65H 2302
US Classification:
226189
Abstract:
Web tracking apparatus for a flexible, closed loop web moving in a closed loop path defined by two or more cylindrical, hard surface supports mounted on a frame and having substantially parallel longitudinal axes which are substantially perpendicular to a plane passing through the respective midpoints of the supports. Included are at least two laterally constraining web supports, at least one of which is a passive positional lateral constraint and includes a cylindrical web-engaging surface which presents substantially no resistance to lateral movement of the moving web, and edge guides mounted adjacent to the cylindrical surface in a predetermined spatial relation to the frame, and having spaced web engaging portions fixed a distance apart which corresponds substantially to width of the web for engaging the edges of the moving web.

Sheet Registration Mechanism

US Patent:
4019733, Apr 26, 1977
Filed:
Jul 2, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/702313
Inventors:
Michael Samuel Montalto - Rochester NY
Assignee:
Eastman Kodak Company - Rochester NY
International Classification:
B65H 906
US Classification:
271245
Abstract:
A registration mechanism for feeding sheets seriatim including a plurality of continuously driven roller sets located along a sheet feed path. A first roller set receives the sheets seriatim and moves the sheets toward a second roller set. The second roller set includes a pair of axially spaced, continuously driven rollers mounted on a drive shaft and a pair of thrust washers which sandwich a registration disc therebetween, the disc being freely mounted on the roller drive shaft. The registration disc has a registration finger which selectively extends through the sheet feed path. When the finger is positioned to extend through the feed path, it is latched to prevent rotation of the disc and provide registration of the sheets fed by the first roller set against the finger. At predetermined time intervals, the finger is unlatched and due to the action of the thrust washers on the disc, the disc is rotated with the driven rollers to move the finger out of the sheet feed path to enable the sheet to be fed by the rollers in registration to a downstream processing station.
