Upon the retirement of Professor of History Elliott Perkins '23, A.M. '28, Ph.D. '36, as Master, a fund was established by Lowell House members and other friends for the Elliott and Mary Perkins Prize. The prize is awarded to a sophomore or junior with high academic standing and an interest in contributing to the community both in Lowell House and in extracurricular activities.

Students at Harvard College are inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa society in three stages. First, during the spring of Junior year, 24 members are selected, known as the Junior 24. Then, during the fall of Senior year, an additional 48 members are inducted, on the basis of both academic achievement as well as the recommendation of faculty. All other members of Phi Beta Kappa are inducted just before graduation.
