Abstract:
A method for treating muscle cramping (e.g., acute nocturnal) includes the steps of placing a transdermal delivery agent on skin above an affected muscle that is in spasm. The transdermal delivery agent includes a composition that includes a therapeutic amount of magnesium. Placement of the transdermal delivery agent on the skin results in transdermal delivery of the magnesium directly to the affected muscle that is in spasm, thereby providing therapeutic relief while limiting the delivery of the magnesium to the entire circulatory system (systemic effect).

The device consists of a chin rest which simulates the chin rest portion of a violin and rests on the shoulder of the violin player and underneath the chin. The hollow tube with markings extends from the chin rest portion of the device. A second tube telescopes into and out of the first tube and includes a marker that slides along a groove that is in juxtaposition to the markings on the first or hollow tube.

The method first provides for cleaning the bow hairs with a mixture of alcohol, which may typically be applied with a terry cloth material. After the bow hairs are permitted to dry, a mixture of rosin and alcohol is applied to the bow hair. This is done to make rosining the bow easier and to improve the tone production. After the bow hair is again dried, it is combed.

The mixture includes between 300 and 600 ml. of isopropyl alcohol, 100 to 199 ml. of tincture of green soap, 100 to 199 ml. of glycerin and between 21 and 43 grams of violin rosin. These ingredients are mixed until an amalgamated and homogeneous solution is obtained.
