Power Manager For An Electrical Power Generator

US Patent:
7486053, Feb 3, 2009
Filed:
Jun 17, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/156216
Inventors:
Wei Wei Qi - New Berlin WI, US
Michael Rubbo - Muskego WI, US
Richard Wainwright - Grand Rapids MI, US
Assignee:
Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation - Rockford IL
International Classification:
H20P 9/46
US Classification:
322 47, 322 18, 322 20, 322 25, 322 27, 322 54, 322 8, 290 40 C
Abstract:
An electrical power generator includes a controller for making a full power capacity of the generator available for consumption by at least one intelligent load coupled to an output of the generator. The controller obtains data from which both a present output power of the generator and a power capacity of the generator can be determined. The controller then provides the intelligent load with data indicative of both the present output power and the power capacity of the generator for use by the load in controlling its power consumption.

Rotating Rectifier Module

US Patent:
7511392, Mar 31, 2009
Filed:
Jun 17, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/155384
Inventors:
Michael Rubbo - Muskego WI, US
Richard Wainwright - Grand Rapids MI, US
Edgar Calago - Lake Villa IL, US
Bruce Wallen - Waterford WI, US
Assignee:
Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation - Rockford IL
International Classification:
H02K 11/00
US Classification:
310 68D, 310 71
Abstract:
A rotating rectifier module for rectifying a multiphase alternating current signal provided by a multiphase alternating current power supply includes a housing, a circuit board, a plurality of input terminals, a first output terminal, a second output terminal, and a plurality of rectifier circuits. The housing has an outer surface, an inner surface defining a central opening for receipt of a rotatable shaft, and at least one cavity located between the outer and inner surfaces. The circuit board is mounted in a plane substantially normal to the outer surface. The input terminals are located on the circuit board. Each input terminal provides for electrical connection to one phase of the power supply. The first and second output terminals are located on the circuit board for electrical connection to a direct current load. The rectifier circuits are electrically connected in parallel between the first and second output terminals.

Power Manager For An Electrical Power Generator

US Patent:
7592784, Sep 22, 2009
Filed:
Sep 24, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/237244
Inventors:
Wei Wei Qi - New Berlin WI, US
Michael Rubbo - Muskego WI, US
Richard Wainwright - Grand Rapids MI, US
Assignee:
Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation - Windsor Locks CT
International Classification:
H02P 9/04
US Classification:
322 24, 322 18, 322 20, 322 45, 290 40 C

Protection System For An Electrical Power Generator

US Patent:
2006028, Dec 21, 2006
Filed:
Jun 17, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/155201
Inventors:
Wei Qi - New Berlin WI, US
Michael Rubbo - Muskego WI, US
Richard Wainwright - Grand Rapids MI, US
Assignee:
Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation - Rockford IL
International Classification:
G06F 19/00
US Classification:
702057000
Abstract:
An electrical power generator is characterized by a plurality of system parameters. The generator includes a controller for protecting the generator. The controller obtains data from which a present operating point of the generator and a power generating capacity of the generator can be determined. The controller further monitors data indicative of at least one system parameter as a function of time to detect an abnormality in a value of the system parameter. The controller then categorizes a type of event that caused the abnormality with respect to the data indicative of the system parameter as a function of time, the present operating point, and the power generating capacity. Finally, the controller provides a response for addressing the type of event that caused the abnormality.

Pole Piece And Yoke Connection For Dc Motor

US Patent:
2013029, Nov 7, 2013
Filed:
May 3, 2013
Appl. No.:
13/886485
Inventors:
Timothy H. Sullivan - Manlius NY, US
William Edwin Drinkwater - Greenlawn NY, US

Assignee:
Advanced Motors & Drives, Inc. - East Syracuse NY
International Classification:
H02K 3/46
US Classification:
310194
Abstract:
A motor including a rotor and a field frame is provided. The field frame comprises a generally annular yoke, a plurality of generally arcuately spaced apart pole pieces extending from the yoke, and a winding extending at least in part about the pole pieces. The yoke includes a plurality of pole piece connection locations. Each of the pole pieces is associated with a corresponding one of the connection locations. The pole pieces and the yoke are connected at the pole piece connection locations in an interlocking manner.
