Inventors:
Xiangshu Wei - Arcadia CA, US
Ming Hsieh - South Pasadena CA, US
Assignee:
Cogent Systems, Inc - South Pasadena CA
International Classification:
G06F 17/10
US Classification:
703 2, 382190, 382192
Abstract:
In one embodiment, the invention is a method for generating geometric patterns from an image having a plurality of ridges and mesh points. The method comprising the steps of: establishing a mathematical model according to regional conditions in the image; converting the mathematical model into numerical equations; solving the numerical equations; and transferring the solutions of the numerical equations to respective regions of the image.

Method And Apparatus For Two Dimensional Image Processing

US Patent:
7088872, Aug 8, 2006
Filed:
Feb 14, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/366955
Inventors:
Ming Hsieh - South Pasadena CA, US
Huansheng Xue - San Gabriel CA, US
Jing Wang - Arcadia CA, US
Chunyu Lu - Pasadena CA, US
Assignee:
Cogent Systems, Inc. - So. Pasadena CA
International Classification:
G06K 9/60
G06K 9/00
H04L 12/66
US Classification:
382305, 382168
Abstract:
In one embodiment, the present invention is a system for two dimensional digital image processing. The system includes a memory access module for accessing a memory containing image data to be processed, and a data flow organizer module for preparing a data stream from the input image data accessed by the memory access module. The data flow organizer module predicts future data neede for processing, and the memory access module pre-fetches the predicted data from the memory. A data processing module processes the pre-fetched data from the data flow organizer module. Address generation for accessing the memory is performed independent and in parallel with processing the pre-fetched data.

Numerical Model For Image Feature Extraction

US Patent:
7194393, Mar 20, 2007
Filed:
Jan 19, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/336130

Apparatus For Capturing A High Quality Image Of A Moist Finger

US Patent:
8275179, Sep 25, 2012
Filed:
Apr 17, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/105212
Inventors:
Ming Hsieh - South Pasadena CA, US
Ankuo Wang - Santa Ana CA, US
Fei Zhou - Shenzhen, CN
Wheshi Chen - Shenzhen, CN
Assignee:
3M Cogent, Inc. - Pasadena CA
International Classification:
G06K 9/00
US Classification:
382127, 382124
Abstract:
An apparatus for capturing the image of a wet/moist fingerprint. The apparatus includes: a prism having an imaging plane on which a finger having valleys and ridges is place, a bottom plane parallel to the imaging plane and a reflective plane intercepting the imaging plane and intercepting the bottom plane at an angle α; a light source for generating a light with an incident angle of approximately 0 with respect to a surface normal of the imaging plane; and a lens for capturing light reflected from the reflective plane. The apparatus further includes an image sensor for generating an image of the valleys and ridges of the finger, wherein the reflective plane is arranged in such a way to meet the equation of α>45 +(arc sin (n/n))/2, where nis a refraction index of medium filled between the valleys of the finger and the imaging plane, and nis refraction index of the prism.
