Filed:
Nov 29, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/606213
Inventors:
Rikin Gandhi - Las Vegas NV, US
Yasuhiro Matsuda - Palo Alto CA, US
Mohammad Faisal - Belmont CA, US
Assignee:
Oracle International Corp. - Redwood Shores CA
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
707 5, 707102
Abstract:
Systems, methodologies, media, and other embodiments associated with efficiently computing document similarity are described. One exemplary system embodiment includes logic to produce a gram from a string and logic to identify candidate documents based on identifying matches between query grams and document grams stored in an inverted index that relates grams to documents. The example system may also include logic to selectively partially reconstruct a candidate document from entries in the inverted index and logic to compute an edit distance between a string associated with a query and a string associated with the partially reconstructed candidate document. The example system may also include a signal logic configured to provide a signal corresponding to the edit distance.

Query Statistics

US Patent:
7849113, Dec 7, 2010
Filed:
Oct 30, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/978799
Inventors:
Sundeep Abraham - Belmont CA, US
Wesley C. Lin - West Covina CA, US
Yasuhiro Matsuda - Palo Alto CA, US
Mohammad Faisal - Belmont CA, US
Geeta Arora - Union City CA, US
Assignee:
Oracle International Corp. - Redwood Shores CA
International Classification:
G06F 17/20
G06F 15/16
US Classification:
707830, 707688
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and other embodiments associated with selectively acquiring and utilizing query statistics are described. One example method includes selectively acquiring statistics associated with search queries submitted to a search process during a sample period. The statistics may be associated with an index and tokens associated with the index and search queries. The method may also include selecting tokens and/or queries to optimize based, at least in part, on the statistics. In one example, whether and/or how the tokens and/or queries are optimized may depend on estimating index fragmentation based, at least in part, on the statistics.

Document Relevancy Operator

US Patent:
2011010, May 5, 2011
Filed:
Nov 2, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/610606
Inventors:
Ravi K. PALAKODETY - Redwood City CA, US
Wesley C. Lin - West Covina CA, US
Sachin Bhatkar - Sunnyvale CA, US
Jeongwoo Ko - Palo Alto CA, US
Thomas Chang - Foster City CA, US
Mohammad Faisal - Belmont CA, US
Assignee:
ORACLE INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION - Redwood Shores CA
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
707728, 707780, 707E17008, 707E17014
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and other embodiments associated with document relevancy are described. One example method includes receiving one or more query terms from a query on stored documents. A relevancy operator is run on a document clump that applies more than one type of matching operation between the query terms and the document clump in a single pass. The relevancy operator may also apply at least one heuristic on the document clump in a single pass. A document's relevancy to the query is predicted based, at least in part, on an output of the relevancy operator.

Real-Time Text Indexing

US Patent:
2012016, Jun 28, 2012
Filed:
Dec 28, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/979413
Inventors:
Ravi PALAKODETY - Redwood City CA, US
Wesley LIN - West Covina CA, US
Mohammad FAISAL - Redwood City CA, US
Garret F. SWART - Palo Alto CA, US
Assignee:
ORACLE INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION - Redwood Shores CA
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
707693, 707741, 707E17002
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and other embodiments associated with real-time text indexing are described. One example method includes receiving a document for indexing in a search system that includes a mature index and indexing the received document in a staging index. The staging index may be stored in direct access memory associated with query processing that does not degrade query performance even when postings become fragmented. The staging index and the mature text index are accessed to process queries on the search system. The example method may also include periodically merging the staging index into the mature index based on query feedback.

Methods And Apparatus For Generating Query Feedback Based On Co-Occurrence Patterns

US Patent:
6314419, Nov 6, 2001
Filed:
Jun 4, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/327370
Inventors:
Mohammad Faisal - San Mateo CA
Assignee:
Oracle Corporation - Redwood Shores CA
International Classification:
G06F 1730
US Classification:
707 2
Abstract:
An information retrieval system generates query feedback terminology for an input query based on a corpus of documents and the input query. Potential query feedback terms are identified through the corpus of documents for use as query feedback in the information retrieval system. To process a query, which includes at least one query term, co-occurrence signatures for "N" query feedback terms are generated. An N. times. N matrix of the co-occurrence signatures depict patterns of semantic distance and conceptual proximity among the "N" query feedback terms. The N. times. N matrix is processed to reduce the number of the entries in the signature to an N. times. M matrix while preserving the co-occurrence distance characteristics among the signatures. Query feedback terms with co-occurrence signatures, which compare with co-occurrence signatures of the query term in a predetermined manner, are selected as query feedback.

Hierarchical Query Feedback In An Information Retrieval System

US Patent:
6094652, Jul 25, 2000
Filed:
Jun 10, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/095515
Inventors:
Mohammad Faisal - San Mateo CA
Assignee:
Oracle Corporation - Redwood Shores CA
International Classification:
G06F 1700
US Classification:
707 5
Abstract:
An information retrieval system generates hierarchical query feedback to a user to facilitate the user in reformulating the query. The information retrieval system, which supports both text and theme queries, includes a knowledge base comprising a plurality of nodes of terminology, arranged hierarchically, that reflect associations among the terminology. For the hierarchical query feedback terms, the information retrieval system selects terminology that broadens and narrows the query terms by selecting parent nodes and child nodes, respectively, of the nodes for terminology that corresponds to the terms of the query. The information retrieval system also selects terminology that is generally related to the query terms by selecting nodes of the knowledge base that are cross linked to the nodes for terminology that corresponds to the terms of the query. Normalization processing, which generates canonical forms for query processing, and a content processing system, which generates themes for theme queries, are also disclosed.

Digital System Synchronization

US Patent:
2022020, Jun 23, 2022
Filed:
Dec 15, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/552318
Inventors:
- Ann Arbor MI, US
Mohammad Faisal - San Francisco CA, US
David Moore - Ann Arbor MI, US
Yu Huang - Ann Arbor MI, US
International Classification:
H03L 7/083
H03L 7/081
H03L 7/099
Abstract:
A semiconductor package includes source clock circuitry to generate a source clock signal. Reference clock circuitry generates a reference clock signal. A first timing circuit includes a first source clock input to receive the source clock signal. First fan-out circuitry distributes the received source clock signal as a first distributed clock signal to a first set of clocked devices. A first delay circuit delays the received source clock signal by a first delay value based on a first phase difference between the first distributed clock signal and the reference clock signal.
