Abstract:
An inside rearview mirror bracket for a windscreen includes a pad portion configured to attach to an interior of the windscreen. A bridge portion is formed as a single piece with the pad portion, and a tunnel is defined by the bridge portion and the pad portion. The mirror bracket includes a mirror receptacle formed as a single piece with the bridge portion opposite the tunnel. The mirror receptacle is configured to receive a rearview mirror. A sensor member may be configured to substantially fill the tunnel, such that the sensor member is disposed intermediate the bridge portion and the windscreen.

Abstract:
Methods and systems are provided for adjusting a reflectance of a mirror of a vehicle. A first sensor measures an ambient light condition outside the vehicle. A second sensor measures a glare from the mirror. A controller identifies a characteristic of the vehicle, and adjusts the reflectance of the mirror based on the characteristic, the ambient light condition, and the glare.

Abstract:
A mount for a rearview mirror includes a base having a bottom surface for adhesive attachment to a windshield glass, a top surface, opposed side surfaces with dovetail walls, and end walls. A mirror mount has dovetail engaging sidewalls that slide onto the dovetail walls of the base. A locking lever is pivotally mounted on the mirror mount and has a cam surface thereon that swings into engagement with the top surface of the base to lock the mirror mount against sliding movement on the base so that the mirror mount is thereby mounted on the base. The locking lever has a handle portion that is flush with a surface of the mirror mount when the cam surface of the locking lever engages with the top surface to provide tactile and visible feedback that the mirror has been properly mounted on the base.

Abstract:
According to various exemplary embodiments, an apparatus is provided for mounting a rearview display and one or more electronic components in a vehicle. An example of the apparatus comprises an inside rearview assembly for mounting an electronic component near a windshield of a vehicle including a mirror and an adjustable support connected to the mirror. The rearview assembly also includes a bracket configured to mount on the windshield, including an attaching structure configured to attach the bracket to the windshield and a support frame coupled to the attaching structure. The support frame has a portion set off from the windshield to accommodate the electronic component between the windshield and the set off portion. The support frame is connected to the adjustable support.
