Pharmaceutical Preparations For The Treatment Of Itch, Nausea, Hyperalgesia And The Complications Of Opioid Agonists

US Patent:
7632524, Dec 15, 2009
Filed:
Oct 4, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/679006
Inventors:
Paul J. Bobrowski - Scottsdale AZ, US
International Classification:
A01N 65/00
US Classification:
424725
Abstract:
The invention herein describes an improved and novel means of managing the complications of opioid analgesics, specifically treating the induction of emesis and itch by suppressing the activation of sensory afferent nerves. The composition of the botanical components that provides these benefits do not sacrifice hyperalgesia in order to negate the activity of sensory afferent nerves that drive emesis and itch, but in contrast affords significant analgesic actions in its own right. The combination of a therapeutic approach that negates an increased sensitivity to pain, itch, and nausea is a significant improvement over current treatment options.

Methods And Preparations Of Extracts Of Uncaria Species With Reduced Alkaloid Content

US Patent:
2004006, Apr 8, 2004
Filed:
Sep 30, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/674986
Inventors:
Paul Bobrowski - Scottsdale AZ, US
International Classification:
C11B001/00
US Classification:
554/008000
Abstract:
The method herein describes a process for the preparation and extraction of components from plants of the family Rubiaceae indigenous to South America, also known as Cat's Claw or U ña de gato. Cat's claw is an ethnomedicine that contains a variety of constituents, some of which have opposing actions. Oxindole and pentacyclic alkaloids have been proposed to be constituents that stimulate immune function, whereas polar constituents act to suppress immune response. An extract that was devoid of the aforementioned alkaloids would avoid opposing actions that may negate effectiveness or limit therapeutic outcome.

Oral Rehydration Methods And Compositions

US Patent:
2004007, Apr 15, 2004
Filed:
Oct 3, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/678817
Inventors:
Paul Bobrowski - Scottsdale AZ, US
International Classification:
A61K033/14
A61K035/78
A61K031/70
US Classification:
424/725000, 514/023000, 424/680000, 424/717000, 514/053000
Abstract:
An improved oral rehydration solution comprising standard formulae of sugars, mineral salts and bicarbonates in combination with Croton species materials with or without the inclusion of material from the Uncaria species. The botanical components are concentrated biologically active materials and thus enhance therapeutic benefit. The Croton component functions as an effective non-paralytic agent in managing diarrhea that is superior to loperamide resulting in a lower stool output. The functionality of the Uncaria species is as an effective anti-inflammatory agent via NF- B activation inhibition and protecting gastrointestinal epithelial cells from oxidant-induced death.

Maca Products And Their Uses

US Patent:
2004013, Jul 15, 2004
Filed:
Sep 30, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/676459
Inventors:
Paul Bobrowski - Scottsdale AZ, US
International Classification:
A23K001/00
US Classification:
426/615000
Abstract:
An extract and procedure for extracting the polar components from plants of the Family Brassicaceae, specifically but not limited to the genus Lepidium. The extraction has an increased polar and decreased lipidic constituent concentration with an increased pharmacocological ability to affect growth parameters relative to the parent material. The concentration of polar constituents makes the product more amenable to preparations that increase growth parameters in aquaculture.

Topical Preparations For Use In Treatment Of Anorectal Disease

US Patent:
2005007, Apr 7, 2005
Filed:
Oct 4, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/678990
Inventors:
Paul Bobrowski - Scottsdale AZ, US
International Classification:
A61K035/78
US Classification:
424779000
Abstract:
The invention herein describes an improved approach to managing hemorrhoids by combining current approaches of topical anesthetics, vasoconstrictors, ant-inflammatories, protectants, anti-pruretics, astringents, keratolytics, anticholinergics, cicatrizants, and antimicrobials with species material. The botanical extracts are concentrated biologically active materials and thus provide enhanced therapeutic benefit. The species components add a breadth and immediacy to the termination of neurogenic responses that mediate, sustain, and prolong the symptoms and underlying pathology.
