Filed:
Oct 1, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/941982
Inventors:
Jonathan P. Thomas - Maple Lake MN
Paul E. Syfko - Woodbury MN
Mark Charles Christian - S. Louis Park MN
Paul S. Petersen - Minnetonka MN
Assignee:
TCG International Inc. - Burnaby
International Classification:
B29C 7302
B29C 7324
US Classification:
425 12
Abstract:
A windshield repair apparatus includes a bridge for holding an injector adjacent to a break area of a windshield. The bridge includes a suction cup for mounting the bridge to the windshield. The bridge includes a pivotally mounted arm which allows for pivotal movement of the injector away from the break area, and a registration system which allows for accurate replacement of the injector over the break area following pivotal movement back toward the break area. A ball plunger and detent mounting arrangement between the pivotally mounted arm and a remainder of the bridge allows for registration. The suction cup includes a vacuum pump for withdrawing air from beneath the suction cup. The injector includes a clip securing a stopper to a body of the injector. The stopper includes a peripheral lip seal at a first end of the stopper which is received by the body.

Loading Assembly For A Vehicle Spindle Test Fixture

US Patent:
5465615, Nov 14, 1995
Filed:
Apr 28, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/234138
Inventors:
Niel R. Petersen - Minnetonka MN
Paul S. Petersen - Minnetonka MN
Joseph W. Daley - Minnetonka MN
Assignee:
MTS Systems Corporation - Eden Prairie MN
International Classification:
G01H 100
G01M 1900
US Classification:
731181
Abstract:
A loading assembly that permits a lateral force to be applied parallel to an axis of a vehicle spindle includes a support frame and a wheel adapter housing mounted to the vehicle spindle. A loading member is pivotally joined to the support frame at a position spaced apart from the wheel adapter housing on the axis of the spindle. A plurality of spaced apart struts connects the loading member to the wheel adapter housing. An actuator applies a selected force to the loading member, which is transferred as a lateral force to the vehicle spindle. In a first embodiment, an adjustable coupling is provided between the actuator and the loading member to emulate a rolling radius of a tire assembly mounted to the vehicle spindle. In a second embodiment, a second loading member is operably connected to the first-mentioned loading member. A second actuator applies a force to the second loading member to apply a selected moment to the vehicle spindle.

Gallium Phosphide Photodetector Having An As-Grown Surface And Producing An Output From Radiation Having Energies Of 2.2 Ev To 3.8 Ev

US Patent:
3976872, Aug 24, 1976
Filed:
Apr 7, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/565920
Inventors:
Paul E. Petersen - Minnetonka MN
Richard G. Schulze - Hopkins MN
Assignee:
Honeywell Inc. - Minneapolis MN
International Classification:
H01J 3912
US Classification:
250211R
Abstract:
Anomalously large photoresponse to radiation of energies between about 2. 8 eV and about 3. 8 eV has been observed in certain gallium phosphide photodetectors having an "as-grown" surface. This photoresponse is believed to be due to the low density of recombination centers in the as-grown surface.

Windshield Repair Apparatus

US Patent:
6302670, Oct 16, 2001
Filed:
Mar 28, 2000
Appl. No.:
9/536675
Inventors:
Jonathan P. Thomas - Maple Lake MN
Keith A. Beveridge - Edina MN
Paul S. Petersen - Minnetonka MN
Jay L. Bickford - Savage MN
Assignee:
TCG International Inc. - Burnaby
International Classification:
B29C 7302
B32B 7710
US Classification:
425 12
Abstract:
A windshield repair apparatus is provided which includes a bridge having a base member including an injection holder and a pivot support member pivotally connected to the base member. A suction cup is disposed for connection with the pivot support member for mounting the bridge to the windshield. A yoke extends upward from the suction cup to pivotally connect the suction cup to the pivot support member of the bridge. The yoke includes at least two side members which are adapted to receive the pivot support member of the bridge therebetween such that the bridge is permitted to pivot vertically about a pivot axis toward and away from the windshield and wherein the side members of the yoke prevent the pivot support member from rotating in a horizontal orientation substantially parallel to the windshield. The bridge includes a registration system engageable with the pivotally mounted base of the bridge for retaining the base member of the bridge in the original position and for selectively permitting rotation of the base member of the bridge from the original position to a rotated position upon the manual retraction of the registration system by the user to release the base member from connection with the pivot support member. The registration system includes a locking pin disposed within a base member of the bridge and biased for engagement with a corresponding locking cavity formed in the pivot support member.

Smart Straightening Press

US Patent:
4912957, Apr 3, 1990
Filed:
Apr 28, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/345009
Inventors:
Paul S. Petersen - Minnetonka MN
Virgil C. Hed - Edina MN
Assignee:
Dayton Rogers Manufacturing Company - Minneapolis MN
International Classification:
B21D 310
US Classification:
72389
Abstract:
A straightening press of the type wherein a workpiece is supported for deflection in a given direction by an anvil engageable with the workpiece. A reference spring is supported for deflection with the reference spring supports being serially interconnected with the anvil. In a preferred embodiment, a floating bridge carries the anvil and reference spring supports. Deflecting force applied to the reference spring, as by a ram, is transmitted to the workpiece via the floating bridge. A change in the differential displacement of the ram and floating bridge is detected to determine the onset of plastic deformation of the workpiece.

Exercise Machine

US Patent:
6080088, Jun 27, 2000
Filed:
Jun 7, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/476307
Inventors:
Paul S. Petersen - Minnetonka MN
James F. Ster - Citrus Heights CA
Assignee:
Bioform Engineering, Inc. - Ross CA
International Classification:
A63B 6906
A63B 2212
US Classification:
482 72
Abstract:
The apparatus converts reciprocating motion of a rowing type exercise into single direction rotational motion of a shaft in a predetermined direction. A reciprocable arm of a rowing type exercise is pivotally mounted to a frame. A shaft, set for rotation in the frame has first and second one way clutches. First and second racks are mounted with respect to the reciprocable arm and engage one or the other of the one way clutches for driving the shaft in a predetermined direction of rotation as the arms are reciprocated. One or the other clutches freewheels against its respective rack when one of the racks is moved in to drive the shaft and thereby retains the driving rack in engagement with its respective one way clutch.

Safety Shield Construction

US Patent:
4034633, Jul 12, 1977
Filed:
Feb 23, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/659982
Inventors:
Paul S. Petersen - Minnetonka MN
Assignee:
Toolmark Co. - Minneapolis MN
International Classification:
B23B 2504
US Classification:
82 34R
Abstract:
A safety shield construction for use with wood turning lathes and similar machines which provide a "see through" shield mounted in a perimeter frame which is movable between closed and open positions. Inertia actuated locks prevent the shield from being knocked open by a sharp blow from a broken workpiece, but permit the shield to be moved to the open position manually. The inertia locks are fail safe and are moved to locked position whenever the shield is moved to closed position. Thus if the inertia locks become inoperative they will be in locked position for safety. The shield construction includes rigid supports attached to the lathe bed which utilize a rigid torque tube that attaches on brackets which permit adjustment of the shield along the length of the lathe to not only serve as a shield for long workpieces, but also as a shield during face plate operation. The torque tube is not substantially longer than the length of the frame of the shield, and permits longitudinal adjustment while maintaining rigidity and strength.
