Paul Senn - Swampscott MA
Thomas Erskine - Marblehead MA
John Cooper - Tewksbury MA
Kenneth W. Sonberg - Andover MA
Assignee:
Boston Communications Group, Inc. - Woburn MA
International Classification:
H04M 1100
US Classification:
455406, 37911403, 37911405
Abstract:
Systems and methods for prerating communication events, such as telephone calls, for prepaying customers are described. Call Delivery Systems For Roaming Prepaid Subscribers

US Patent:
7187928, Mar 6, 2007
Filed:
Nov 24, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/449001
Inventors:
Paul Senn - Woburn MA, US
Thomas Erskine - Woburn MA, US
John R. Cooper - Woburn MA, US
Assignee:
Boston Communications Group, Inc. - Woburn MA
International Classification:
H04Q 7/20
US Classification:
4554321, 455406, 4554323, 455433, 4554351
Abstract:
The invention provides systems and methods that operate to provide seamless roaming to a prepaid subscriber in as many markets as possible. To that end, the systems of the invention include a location register (LR) that can determine the type, or class, of serving market with which the roaming subscriber is registering. Once the class of the serving market is identified, the LR can modify a subscriber's profile as a function of this class, and return to the serving market a profile that will allow the serving market to employ the prepaid platform that services the subscriber and thereby provide services to the roaming subscriber. In optional embodiments, the LR may also respond to location requests from the prepaid platform. The location information may be employed by the subscriber to determine a rate structure for a call, and thereby decrement the subscriber's balance as a function of, at least in part, the location of the roaming subscriber.

Web-Based Information Content Analyzer And Information Dimension Dictionary

US Patent:
2003019, Oct 16, 2003
Filed:
Dec 2, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/307589
Inventors:
Paul Senn - Swampscott MA, US
International Classification:
G06F007/00
US Classification:
707/003000
Abstract:
The purpose of the invention described below is to make the information available via the Internet (broadly defined to include intranets and extranets) more useful for applications which need to distinguish not only the factual content, but also other dimensions of information content. One example of a type of information content which is not factual is emotional content Current search engines allow for keyword searches, but it is quite cumbersome to use these engines to pick out sites with specific emotional tones. For-instance, suppose one wanted to use a currently existing search engine to pick out all of the English language internet sites containing predominantly negative references to Microsoft corporation. The English language is complex enough that the task of forming the right keyword and phrase list is formidable. Simply looking for adjectives like “bad” or “disappointing” or “frustrating”, etc combined with the keyword Microsoft will yield thousands of false matches. Such a search would also miss many overall negative sites because the methods of expressing negativity in the English language are so varied.

Sensitive Devices And Sensitive Applications

US Patent:
2004000, Jan 1, 2004
Filed:
Jun 28, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/185921
Inventors:
Paul Senn - Swampscott MA, US
International Classification:
G05B019/04
G05B013/02
G06F019/00
G06F017/00
G06N005/02
US Classification:
700/246000, 700/029000, 700/245000, 706/046000
Abstract:
A method for building a new generation of computer applications termed “Sensitive Applications” is described. These applications have the potential to give the impression of working towards goals, reacting “emotionally” and “understanding” feelings. Sensitive Applications take as their input the rate and direction of change of subjective information (such as emotional tone). Sensitive Applications are capable of self-adjustment in efforts to increase the frequency of “good” behaviors (ie behaviors which seem to increase the possibility of reaching a goal.) They are capable of a wide range of modes of expression; through the use of mathematical and geometrical constructs such as waves and lines, the flow and change of emotional states is represented. The invention makes it possible to define a Behavior and then implement the manifestation of this behavior differently for different devices. The invention can be used in combination with robotics to create “Sensitive Devices”, such as a toy which gives the impression of being very knowledgeable, emotional, interested and alive.

Method For Segmenting A Data File, Storing The File In A Separate Location, And Recreating The File

US Patent:
2011015, Jun 23, 2011
Filed:
Aug 25, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/862793
Inventors:
Tareq Mahmud Rahman - North Andover MA, US
Paul R. Senn - Salem MA, US
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
G06F 15/16
H04L 9/32
G06F 21/00
US Classification:
713150, 707827, 709218, 726 3, 707E1701
Abstract:
A method includes transmitting file identifying information to a dispatch server; receiving from the dispatch server a storage location identifier and a distribution algorithm identifier; performing the distribution algorithm to generate a distribution map for segments of the file; and transmitting the file segments to storage locations in accordance with the distribution map. The distribution map indicates for each file segment a segment size and a storage destination for that segment. The storage location identifier may identify a server cluster; the dispatch server and the server cluster may be located at a third-party facility physically and/or logically remote from the client. A plurality of distribution algorithms may be provided, so that the distribution algorithm and the distribution map for one stored file are distinct from the distribution algorithm and the distribution map for another stored file.

System And Method For Creating A Sensory Experience By Merging Biometric Data With User-Provided Content

US Patent:
2022031, Oct 6, 2022
Filed:
Jun 24, 2022
Appl. No.:
17/808936
Inventors:
Paul Senn - Swampscott MA, US
International Classification:
G10H 1/00
G10L 19/02
G06F 3/01
H04R 5/033
H04R 5/04
Abstract:
Systems and methods for generating sensory outputs (e.g., tactile, scent, and/or flavor) based on biometric/neurometric user data are provided. One exemplary method comprises receiving an incoming signal from a bio-generated data sensing device worn by a user; receiving an input signal representing sensory content experienced by the user in association with generation of the incoming signal; populating a common vocabulary with one or more values determined based on the input signal; determining a set of output values based on the incoming signal, the common vocabulary, which comprises a list of possible output values, and a parameter file, which comprises a set of instructions for applying the common vocabulary to the incoming signal to derive the set of output values; generating an output array comprising the set of output values; and providing the output array to an output delivery system configured to render the output array as a sensory output.
