Use Of Server Instances And Processing Elements To Define A Server

US Patent:
7797288, Sep 14, 2010
Filed:
May 27, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/140252
Inventors:
Xinhong (Henry) Zhang - Bothell WA, US
Peter H. Benoit - Kirkland WA, US
Vinod R. Shankar - Redmond WA, US
Eric Lindvall - Seattle WA, US
Assignee:
Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. - San Jose CA
International Classification:
G06F 7/00
G06F 15/173
US Classification:
707694, 709223
Abstract:
A server instance, which is a collection of LUNs, containing an operating system, any applications and data storage. A processing element is the physical hardware. The combination is a server as normally understood. Templates are used to define server instances and server types to simplify deploying a server instance to a processing element. A graphical user interface provides the templates where the particular storage groups are identified and then server instances are created from lists of operating systems, applications, and available storage. The management service processor is a PXE server and provides the necessary software to identify the components of the processing element and correlate between the processing element and a server instance. The management service processor then automatically provides software to the processing element to allow it correctly boot. The management service processor manages the interconnection of the processing element and the relevant LUNs.

Systems And Methods For Establishing A Cloud Bridge Between Virtual Storage Resources

US Patent:
8578076, Nov 5, 2013
Filed:
May 3, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/772977
Inventors:
Rob van der Linden - Cambridge, GB
David Halls - Cambourne, GB
Simon Waterhouse - Cambridge, GB
Peter Benoit - Kirkland WA, US
Assignee:
Citrix Systems, Inc. - Fort Lauderdale FL
International Classification:
G06F 13/14
US Classification:
710 72, 710 74, 709227
Abstract:
Methods and systems for establishing a cloud bridge between two virtual storage resources and for transmitting data from one first virtual storage resource to the other virtual storage resource. The system can include a first virtual storage resource or cloud, and a storage delivery management service that executes on a computer and within the first virtual storage resource. The storage delivery management service can receive user credentials of a user that identify a storage adapter. Upon receiving the user credentials, the storage delivery management service can invoke the storage adapter which executes an interface that identifies a second virtual storage resource and includes an interface translation file. The storage delivery management service accesses the second virtual storage resource and establishes a cloud bridge with the second virtual storage resource using information obtained from the second virtual storage resource and information translated by the storage adapter using the interface translation file.

A computer-implemented system and method for context-based APP searching and APP use insights are disclosed. User data is received from a plurality of mobile devices, each associated with at least one user. The user data includes context discriminators for each user and sensor data regarding the usage of applications on the users' mobile device. The data is stored and analyzed by an engine that identifies a list of names of applications used by each user on the user's mobile device. The engine provides to at least one user insights into applications used by other users by identifying the other users in a similar context to the at least one user based on their discriminators, and providing to the at least one user the names of one or more of the applications on the lists of applications used by the other users in the similar context.
