Utilization For Aircraft Airstair Space And Fuel Cell System Integration

US Patent:
2014004, Feb 20, 2014
Filed:
Aug 14, 2013
Appl. No.:
13/966347
Inventors:
- Plaisir Cedex, FR
Jean-Marie Daout - Mukilteo WA, US
Thomas Lee Marks - Coto De Caza CA, US
Peter Fiala - Bellevue WA, US
Assignee:
INTERTECHNIQUE - Plaisir Cedex
International Classification:
B64D 37/30
B64D 11/00
US Classification:
2441185, 2441291
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention provide improved space utilization concepts for aircraft, and particularly to using under floor space created by the envelope designed to house an airstair system. For example, this space may be used to house and integrate one or more fuel cell system(s) and/or components, such as hydrogen tanks and/or the fuel cell body, such that the fuel cell system can deliver useful byproducts to support various aircraft functions. Additionally or alternatively, the space may be used to store other components.

Device For Separating Moisture From Gas Vented From An Aircraft

US Patent:
5882386, Mar 16, 1999
Filed:
Oct 10, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/948614
Inventors:
Blayne A. McAferty - Seattle WA
Timothy W. Morgan - Seattle WA
Peter E. Fiala - Bellevue WA
Assignee:
Aim Aviation, Inc. - Renton WA
International Classification:
B01D 4508
US Classification:
96378
Abstract:
A device for separating moisture from a gas flow which is vented from an interior region of an aircraft to a region exterior to the aircraft. In a preferred embodiment, a vessel having an inlet port coupled to the interior region of the aircraft, an outlet port coupled to the region exterior to the aircraft, and at least one baffle member positioned between the inlet port and the outlet port. The baffle member extends away from a wall of the vessel, at least partially transverse to a flow of gas passing through the vessel from the inlet port to the outlet port. The flow passes adjacent to the at least one baffle member such that a surface of the baffle member collects moisture thereon. The moisture is returned, via a canted vessel surface, through the inlet port of the vessel and to the interior region of the aircraft.

Removable Interior Window Unit For Aircraft

US Patent:
4541595, Sep 17, 1985
Filed:
Mar 28, 1983
Appl. No.:
6/479674
Inventors:
Peter E. Fiala - Federal Way WA
Gerald E. Davis - Black Diamond WA
Alan J. Tuma - Edmonds WA
Jack E. Hart - Bellevue WA
Assignee:
Heath-Tecna Precision Structures - Kent WA
International Classification:
B64C 114
US Classification:
2441293
Abstract:
In an aircraft having a pressure window mounted in the hull, an interior window assembly is removably mounted in an interior wall spaced from the hull. The interior window assembly is in register with the pressure window to enable occupants of the aircraft to view the outside. The interior wall has an opening formed therein to accept the interior window assembly and the portions of the wall surrounding the opening are biased toward the interior of the aircraft. The interior window assembly includes a windowpane mounted in a frame. The frame includes a flange that overlies the inboard surface of the portions of the wall surrounding the opening, and the bias of the wall portions is exerted on the flange. A constraint means is affixed to the hull of the aircraft and releasably engages the frame to constrain the frame from inboard movement. The bias force of the wall portions and the constraint means cooperate to hold the window in place.

Overhead Storage Bin Pivot Latch Mechanism

US Patent:
2023002, Jan 26, 2023
Filed:
Jul 21, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/381518
Inventors:
- Huntington Beach CA, US
Peter Fiala - Huntington Beach CA, US
International Classification:
E05C 3/26
B64D 11/00
Abstract:
An aircraft storage bin that includes a latch system that includes a pivot plate assembly, a mounting plate assembly and a latch button assembly. The pivot plate assembly includes a pivot plate attached to the bucket, a latch arm that is pivotally connected to the pivot plate and is pivotal between latched and unlatched positions, and a latch pawl that is pivotal between latched and unlatched positions. A latch activator is secured to the latch arm, which includes a roller member. The latch pawl includes hook and roller receiver portions. In the latched position, the roller member is received in the roller receiver portion. The mounting plate assembly includes a mounting plate to which the pivot plate is pivotally connected and a striker that is received in the hook portion when the bucket is in the closed position. Movement of the button from the home position to the actuation position moves the latch activator, which pivots the latch arm to the unlatched position, the roller member is released from the roller receiver portion and the latch pawl pivots to the unlatched position and releases the striker from the hook portion.

Lavatory Potable Water System

US Patent:
2014033, Nov 20, 2014
Filed:
May 14, 2014
Appl. No.:
14/120349
Inventors:
- Bellingham WA, US
Peter Edward Fiala - Redmond WA, US
International Classification:
B64D 11/02
US Classification:
13762427
Abstract:
To eliminate as many hoses and tubes as possible, reduce overall system size, weight and costs, the manifold system disclosed herein has been developed. The apparatus in some examples utilizes a unitary structure (solid cast) manifold to replace many of the hoses previously provided. Several versions/examples of this apparatus are disclosed herein such as a manifold system and an integrated water manifold wherein a mount for a hot water heater and/or water filter are integrated into the manifold body.
